I know! I’ve been waiting for these to drop since I’ve owned my ‘08 GX470 since new, and I never liked the styling or the sluggishness / mass of the GX460’s since they weighed so much more than the 470 model with almost no extra power. This one with all that torque should be excellent, and the whole package is so much more appealing!

The $81,000 price tag you guys spoke about was for the Overtrail +. The extra $8,000 for the plus gives you those massaging seats, and a few other niceties, but I would rather spend that money on improving off road performance with after market accessories. The standard GX-550 Overtrail has a Base MSRP of $67,900. When I configured that model with Atomic Silver & Black Onyx $350, Wireless Charger $75, Cool Box $170, No Moonroof -$1100, Black Emblem Overlays $199, Roof Rack $1580, Rock Rails $990, All-Weather Cargo mat $150, ARB Twin Portable Compressor $990 and the Delivery-Processing & Handling fee of $1350, it came out to a Total of $72,654. I placed a $1000 deposit with my local Lexus dealer to get on the list for an Overtrail. I'm number 18 on the list, but number 3 for the Overtrail model. If the dealer receives something close the model I described above, I'll snatch it up and never look back!

@CeeJay59111 ай бұрын
Yeah, that’s a serious issue and it’s just one example of Toyota screwing around with the options on this new GX - the other is the E-KDSS, as it’s available on the Overtrail line only - the old GX had KDSS standard across the lineup and that helped body roll significantly, particularly on road, as with it you can use thicker sway bars to help the ride quality. Same with the ML sound system - this was available at much lower price points on the old GX.

To Tommy’s point, the capabilities of the vehicle are what is important. Not whether buyers will take it off road. And can we get over the fact that everything is more expensive now? State the price, maybe make a comparison or two, and move on. No sense in speaking to us like we’re poor. Lastly, the mileage complaint - it’s got more HP and a ton more torque, and still managed better MPG than the V8. Take things in context, and if MPG is a big concern, there’s always the TX.

It's funny watching Ryan following behind you doing his own review...

He had mentioned in his review that he was following Roman and Tommy 😂 I'm a little surprised TFL didn't have this video out as soon as the embargo lifted.

This vehicle might be my next rig. Really want to see the New 4 runner vs Land Cruiser.

In terms of competition, Tommy is square on. Despite the Brit appeal of the Defender, total cost of ownership is so much better with the Toyota product. Resale alone makes the Lexus worth it. Would like to see a bit tougher off-roading.

The OVERTRAIL, is perfect for me, sort of glad it doesn’t have 3 rows, they can seat on the floor

Glad they skipped air suspension. Let the users select the height we need aftermarket.

I hope you do a comparison of the Overtrail 550 versus a Land Cruiser 250 series. Right now I consider the Overtrail the new real Land Cruiser.

"Would I take reliability over British coolness?" - LOL, I can't think of any reason in the entire universe that I would choose a range rover or grenadier over a GX 🤣🤣. You also said: "This is A LOT of money for this!" - but it'll do everything the range rover and grenadier can do (out of the box) for LESS money that either of those vehicles.

Not everything but a lot. This is no comparison to a Range Rover and they are both in entirely different segments.
@jamisonjamisonx11 ай бұрын
@@stop_lying_bro interesting, why is there no comparison (what make this statement true)? and what are the different segments these vehicles are in?

I disagree with you about the old V8 on the GX 460. It actually didn't have much low-end torque and as a result the GX 460 was relatively slow off the line. That old V8 was quite smooth, but just wasn't that powerful at the low end. The torque delivery on the 460 is dramatically different from that on the old Gx 470 or from the 5.7 in the 200 Series Land Cruiser. I'm not saying that the 4.6l V8 is a bad engine, just that it isn't the be-all, end-all that some folks seem to be claiming.

I think Roman fundamentally misunderstands the last gen GX. It wasn’t a “luxury vehicle” with off road capability tacked on. It was an off-road vehicle with luxury accoutrements tacked on. Kind of like a Land Cruiser, G-Wagen, etc.
