@docholliday6285 You're entitled to your opinion, but I believe that 50k + for any truck never mind a mid-size truck is absurd. The fact that we as buyers are willing to accept this this just emboldens the manufacturers and dealers to keep pushing this foolishness.

@@djjd3027this one is loaded to the gills with off-road equipment and tech. GMC is a quasi luxury brand. It's actually priced about right if you have ever built up a truck like this in hardware alone. It's the top o the line model...not the base trim.

I've towed and taken my 2017 GMC Canyon off-road countless times, it's had an active life and now, after almost 6 years and 97k miles, it's still a solid, rattle-free truck. I'm glad the 3rd gen is showing good initial build quality, and I know the 2nd gens aren't perfect, but after owning dozens of vehicles in my lifetime I'm very impressed with how well my 2017 Canyon has held up. It would be virtually impossible to tell the difference between a new 2nd gen and my current truck at this point in time, even when looking under the chassis. Hopefully the 3rd gens hold up well over time/miles. Regarding the seats, that was a common complaint with the 2nd gens as well and I also wasn't happy with the seat comfort on long drives initially, but after a few thousand miles in the seat they became a lot more comfortable and I could easily drive 14+ hours in a day with zero complaints about seat comfort. They're not couch comfortable, but they broke in nicely.

Glad to hear your 2017 Canyon is doing well. My 2016 Colorado Z71 is doing well with a little over 55k. Oh yeah, those seats are a pain in the butt. I put wet Okole seat covers on mine to help with the comfort. Also have looked into getting different seats.

@garretlewis4103 yours is a 16 six speed. Did you have the dealer do the TCM/ ECM reflash? My 16 was sluggish until they reflashed it now it is always ready to downshift when needed and feels like i got an extra 50hp. It's a different truck.

Thank you for commenting on the seats. Too many manufacturers are going with hard seats these days and they're very uncomfortable, especially when they are covered in leather. For the life of me I don't understand why. I do know this, that it doesn't matter how good the rest of the truck is, if you don't want to drive it in the first place because the seat is so uncomfortable.
@MarkPharaoh

I'm actually finding that the seatbelt buckle makes it even worse than just the hard foam. Buckle is basically sitting on top of the bolster and just digs into my leg constantly. Truck is great, but the seats alone are making me start to regret the purchase.

When I first saw the thing about the lights being put into the screen I hated then I thought about how often I've changed my vehicle's lights settings away from auto and it's maybe a few times. Really only to turn them off when parked at night where I have to turn on the dome lights and look at the stalk anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if the screen option is actually quicker.

I’m getting an honest 2 mpg better with the Territorial because of the Weight difference and it rides almost like a car compared to the 10 ply tires. But the Duratracs never let me down when I was off roading. It’s a trade off you have to decide which is best for you. I think most of the flats you have seen which I have also are doing some pretty Xtreme off road stuff.

For my $58K I'll go with a Custom Trail Boss diesel with much more room, double the towing, Payload and FUEL ECONOMY!!! Well the last two are close to double. I'll be holding on to my 2019 Colorado diesel for a mid size truck. Sure the Midsize fit into tighter places but I don't understand how in the age of CAFE requirements GM approved this drivetrain. I'd be in line for this truck with a 4 cylinder diesel. I'd even much prefer the old 4.3 liter v6 that they're still using in the van.

Yeah, not a fan of the Turbo i4 gas engine trend in midsize trucks. The 277-hp 3.0L i6 diesel that GM makes is a really good engine, but you can only get it in the Yukon, Suburban, and Silverado/Sierra.

@@theglowcloud2215 GM sold the factory that produced the 2.8 diesel in the Colorado but I'd like to see them develop a 4 cylinder derivative of the 3.0 and gain an advantage in fuel economy of the half tons, or offer the 4.3 NA gas V6.

@@curtshelp6170 they won't, though. American car makers have some axe to grind with diesels. They can hit CAFE targets but it doesn't matter. I hear the same old shit about why diesels are allegedly bad everyday: maintenance costs, DEF gumming up the engine and reducing power, diesel being so much more expensive than gas, etc. I'd take a 3L diesel Silverado over a 6.2L V8 gas Silverado any day of the week. It's really stupid.

Sadly, truck prices are like gas prices: they go up for some obscure reason but never really go down when that reason no longer exists. We're stuck with it because they won't lower it, only offer rebates and other shit temporarily.

If you think today's midsize trucks are as big as full size trucks from 20-30 years ago try putting a 4X8 foot sheet of plywood in the bed with or without the tailgate down.
@andrewsbbq
@andrewsbbq 11 ай бұрын
Most people can’t put a sheet in the bed of a 1 ton with the tailgate up. Midsize trucks are only 3” narrower than a half ton from 20 years ago
@dcl97
@dcl97 11 ай бұрын
You couldn't fit a full sheet of plywood in the back of a full-size 30 years ago unless it had a long bed. A true long bed is almost unheard of today even on 3/4 and 1 tons. That's just a matter of buyer preferences dictating a shorter bed. Theses trucks are essentially the same as an old full-size in every dimension, the new Ranger can even fit a sheet between the wheel wells.
