I finally did it. I retired my 08 tundra. I pick up the 25 chevy silverado 2500hd duramax custom. So my more truck than my tundra. I just hope it holds up like the tundra.

The Chevy was the best option and best deal. Good decision but only downfall was it should have 18" wheel's. Time for mods.

While not ideal, 20” rims isn’t too bad if they fit 37” tires on it; still plenty of rubber at that size. Anything smaller and 18” (or smaller) rims become mandatory to be able to have enough rubber to deflate it for harder trails. The brakes make it a little more challenging to get 18” rims to fit, but other trucks like the 5th gen RAM 1500 use 18” rims with oversized brakes so their are plenty of rims that will fit if they pay attention when shopping.

I ordered and 3500HD LT midnight edition with Duramax with all the options and came in 30 grand less than a comparable Ford. Go to GM order site and price out a LT Duramax Midnight with leather you will be shocked on how much lower the cost is.

“comparable” is a relative term. I often price out RAMs when truck shopping, and find I can get “comparable” models for half the price of Chevy or Ford, but everyone’s opinion of “comparable” can vary significantly.

Not sure how there could be $30k difference between TRULY comparable trucks. I’m seeing gas ford lariats at around $70-$80k, that would mean the Chevy would be $40-50k? When I was seriously considering using a new HD truck, I built every one with options as close as possible. While I don’t remember exact #’s, I believe the msrp differences were within $5k or so.

2024 F250 XLT Tremor 7.3L gas. Dual battery/alt, roof marker lamps, bedliner, upfitter switches and more for only 59K. 3300# payload & 18000# towing. This is a good base vehicle to start with. Bought in Oct still has under 200 miles.

I purchased a 2024 HD2500 ZR2 6.6 gas in September. So far so good. Does not burn oil and no transmission issues. I paid 77k.

I’ve had a 2 door truck for 20 years. My next vehicle will be an older suburban. Essentially a truck with a camper shell, but also seats for family. I would go rent a trailer for the rarer cases I need to haul something bigger.

The ram definitely needs to be updated but it doesnt necessarily need to be bigger, a lot of guys like the Ram 2500 because its shorter and easier to maneuver in tight parking lots. Fords are just too expensive, 90k and it didnt even have a bedliner is just ridiculous.

Personally I'd put a nice ceramic coating on the heavy duty & maybe some ppf to retain some trade in value protecting the paint after all it's not an inexpensive truck at all keeping it looking nice & easy to clean will likely pay off long-term

The Trail Boss is nothing more than an appearance package. Essentially the same as my 2024 Z71 with the Z71 Sport Edition package. My truck came with the factory 20’s and K03’s. Option price for the tire upgrade was $295. My truck thankfully doesn’t have the roof marker lights, another place for leaks.

Hey TFL, the new 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor has the winch option and it costs whopping $9,220. Yes, NINE.22 GRAND. It is not a package. It's just an winch option. Can you guys find out and tell us viewers why?

I think it requires a special bumper, which is where the majority of the cost comes from. Much cheaper to have an aftermarket winch and bumper installed, plus you have the original bumper to put back on when you sell the truck so you can put the winch on the next truck too.

Because Ford thinks they can. That’s why. Actually, it’s even worse than $9k. It’s TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. Because you need the Tremor High package to add the winch, not just the plain vanilla Tremor package. The Tremor High is $11k. So to add the factory winch it’s $20k.

Trail Boss is just wheels and Z71 sport package.....doesnt offer anything different for offroad than a Z71...... ZR2 would have been better option for offroad but also more expensive 100% better to have more truck than you need vs barely enough.....easier on the vehicle, for the driver, its safer, and overall just going to be a better experience purchased a 24 SLT 2500 with Duramax a month or so ago and sell price was 73k.....sticker was 81k....you can for sure negotiate on HD right now.....seen Denalis for 9k off on 24 models as well

It is interesting that Chevy brought Trail Boss to the 2500 when they had the ZR2. I bought a gas ZR2 January and love it. I don’t tow enough to need the diesel. Looked at Ford Tremor as well. Chevy was on the lot and a little cheaper but only 400 kw in the bed.

Power is good. Normal MPG is around 12. Best on the highway is about 14.

It’s one of the biggest talking points with HD trucks, so they are all drooling over it. I’m actually surprised Roman didn’t go for it, but I believe he doesn’t intend to drive it often and only spends big on vehicles he plans on allocating primarily to himself instead of the rest of the team.

Powerstroke is an engine, not a truck. It’s also extremely heavy, so it’s terrible for the main purpose of the Power Wagon (Off Road use). Powerstroke to tow, Power wagon to crawl. You can rock crawl with almost any engine, as the important part is the low\granny gear able to multiply the torque to high values at very low speeds. If you want to drive the same vehicle on the highway afterwards, that’s a different story, but even then you don’t need anything near as powerful as a Powerstroke just to reach highway speeds on a truck that isn’t towing, even with larger tires mounted, and a truck outfitted to rock crawl well is not going to tow heavy trailers well on the highway no matter what engine it has.
