TFL, thanks for the information on the new 2025 Explorer. However, I think there are other more important questions that should have been asked and not just feed honey to your audience. Why not ask the Ford team how and if they have addressed all of the powertrain issues and recall issues the 2020-2024 versions had. This would give much more and better confidence of this new design. I have a 2020 and had to have the transmission and transfer case replaced due to those very well known issues. Disappointed.

Sure hope Ford has figured out all of the electrical gremlins that has plagued the Explorer since the 2020 redesign. Just one example is the back-up camera and the blue screen of death. Unbelievable that a car maker of over a hundred years still has recurring problems that take multiple years to fix. I've owned Fords since 1976. There are so important and useful questions you could have asked to the ford tech. For example does the ST come with a BENCH as a 2nd row? In USA there is no such option for now but in Canada there is. Will there be? Another example is what are the plans for Europe? Will they roll this as a PHEV like they did with the previous model? I can think 50 questions that would benefit everyone instead you spend so much time and the value added for the clients and audience is much below any expectation

Does that include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? Do we have to pay a monthly fee to have access to our Google Maps / Apple Maps from our phone, or the vehicle's Navigation System ?

Dropping the tow rating while making the car more expensive just makes the Grand Cherokee look better to me. And those tailpipes are insulting to everyone with eyes.

Exactly! When I heard the Explorer was going back to RWD architecture, I was excited that something would finally compete with the Durango and grand Cherokee towing with a crossover. But nope. I guess I’ll go by the Durango. That’s on a 20-year-old platform.
@rightwingsafetysquad98725 ай бұрын
@slscamg If only the Durango weren't so ugly on the inside and made with materials that age like milk. Ford should just keep the Explorer tow rating at parity with the Ranger. The Germans have mid-size crossovers that tow 4 tones, why not the Americans.

With a tow rating of 5600, you think you might be able to tow 5000 with no problem. When its 5000, youre more like 4000- 4500. Ive towed my 20' glastron with my wive's Timberline and that thing worked really hard with stop and go. Mainly the go with the 2.3. It makes sense to bring that number down from my experience.
@AO-mx9tk5 ай бұрын
You're usually safe using the 80% rule. My '15 Canyon was rated @ 7k, but all my toys were around 5-5.5k. For long distances, I wouldn't go much higher than that.
@rightwingsafetysquad98725 ай бұрын
My Ranger with the 2.3L EB towed 5,500 pounds over the Cumberland mountains in Tennessee without serious issue. 300 pounds of people in the front seat, 100 pounds of stuff in the back seat, 400 pounds of tools in the bed. With the same load in the truck, but not towing it downshifts to 8th a few times. With the trailer it downshifted to 7th a few times and 6th once. I had the cruise set to 65 the whole time and it never dropped below 62. If I were going over the Rockies it might have been more of an issue, but the speed limits are much lower so it probably would have been fine. But there was almost no stop and go. 2 miles to get on the Interstate, 200 miles on the Interstate, 4 miles when I got off.

@rightwingsafetysquad98725 ай бұрын
@icanmanifest As he said, some people loved the hybrid. But not enough people bought it to keep supplying through retail. A lot of what the engineer said implies that they're targeting the 80% customer for every feature. A very myopic attitude because the majority of buyers are probably a 90% customer in at least 1 aspect. If everyone were an 80% customer, the Tesla Modely Y would be the only car
@icanmanifest5 ай бұрын
@@rightwingsafetysquad9872 The other issue is they didn't tune that hybrid to get very good gas mileage. It was barely an improvement over the non-hybrid model. I'm a right or is there a way you can override this in order to get the A/C to work among other things to get you safely home???? Not much is changed on the platform of this Ford Explorer in the last 10 years, but they’re over pricing this vehicle out of the reach of people who needed it. @@major3477There are a few reasons. Less worry about your car needing major maintenances and repair for a few years. Which means less time without your car. Depending on financing and incentives, sometimes a new car is actually cheaper than a lightly used car. You can get exactly the options you want rather than taking whatever happens to be available. And sometimes people just want something new and shiny. Especially when looking at European brands, new almost always makes more sense than used.
