Even a small 3rd row comes in handy. When I was young and going skiing with the neighbours, at 7-10 years old, I was totally happy all the way back, in the 2 seater tiny bench with another kid in the back of that big Chrysler station wagon. Loaded with 8 people, weighed down to the max, we did our 320 mile round trips every weekend, all winter, for years. It was always an adventure.

Tommy and I have similar taste, apparently. I drive a ‘23 Frontier and a ‘20 Miata RF. Both are great vehicles. I can also relate to what Roman and Andre say about not being same to fit in the Miata. I’m a big guy (6’1” 225 lbs.) and my head touched the lower roof in the RF (compared to the soft top) until I added aftermarket drivers seat rails that lower the seat 1.5”, makes all the difference and the car now fits me perfect. The Miata is the most fun you can have in its price range. Got mine for $21,500 with 22k miles and the aftermarket has so many options to improve the (already amazing) driving experience make it your own.

Tommy’s generation has been taught the “virtues intentions” of the Soviet Union. They didn’t live through the Cold War. Those institutes of higher learning, like the one Tommy attended, don’t teach the reality of communism… from Pol Pot’s killing fields, to Chairman Mau’s Cultural Revolution, to Stalin’s Great Purge. Tommy, do some reading and critical thinking of your own! We don’t want anything remotely close to communism or socialism!!!
@ldmtag10 ай бұрын
They tried to build communism way to early, back when technology wasn't there yet. Back then genetics wasn't a thing, nuclear power, solar, tractors were just appearing in agriculture, there was no internet, entertainment was expensive and inaccessible. No wonder they had to k*ll a sh*t load of prisoners trying to build a railroad. In 21st century communism would make much more sense, since people are already thinking if consuming less and having more free time to play games, watch movies, hang out with friends, etc. In USSR pretty much everyone had to work 9 to 6, not even 9 to 5, like in present day US, and the country was barely making it. Modern automated industry can produce various consumer items for eceryone for cheap, and now you don't even need to own stuff to be happy, you can just listen to music, watch movies and play game - all at the cost of consuming a little electricity. The need of a lot of buildings would be eliminated, cos people now can work from home. And with cheaper solar and almost limitless nuclear energy, maybe this time socialism will work.
@DavePerkins-u9g7 ай бұрын
It’s not equal in politics. One side wants to be free to build whatever they want, and sell it to us if we want… the other side wants restrictions, limits, controls, on cars and on all other aspects of living. I don’t want to have my options restricted. Let makers live and die by design and marketing and sales, not by artificial restraints in law and policy. Give me freedom. That’s all I want.

Tommy was on a good opinion discussion, to bad Roman was thinking about politics... would have been a good idea to expand on. If the same engines are being built by different companies, why not use the same engine to help reduce costs. I agree with Tommy on the engine issues having several companies work together to come up with a assisted engine and reduce building cost is a great idea. That and if your wondering that they will be the same even though they are the same internal structure there are alot of small changes and transmission changes that can be made that can easily differentiate the engines. I mean look at gm and Ford they shared the cost of building that new ten speeds and right now those transmissions are not the same.

Single cab anything’s are going the way of the dodo. Even never having passengers, at least an extended cab is unbelievably utilitarian for storing tools, gear, guns, etc. in a dry, locked environment inside the cab.
@is656610 ай бұрын
That’s what canopies and hard tonneau covers are for. Get an 8-foot bed single cab and if you need enclosed space put a hard tonneau cover on it (Diamondback) way more secure than a GLASS enclosed cab or put on a canopy WITHOUT WINDOWS for example GFC top and it will be literally secure while a double cab is a brick through the glass away for not being secure. I see the broken in vehicles and the tempered glass on the ground from previous break ins all the time at trail heads where hikers park. Only a fool would think an extended cab with glass all around provides any security.

Folks that have no home chargers, who live in huge apartment complexes on 16th floor and can't even pull a wire from the window. I'm planning to buy a 2015-ish Outlander PHEV in two years, I'm going to charge it at a public station. I'm not that rich, I can't just buy an underground parking spot where I could install a charger.
@Dusdaddy10 ай бұрын
@@ldmtag No one would ever recommend you do that. One, you end up paying so much more for the vehicle upfront it will negate any savings if you pay to charge. Two, the added complexity of the vehicle will make it more expensive to repair as miles get added. You'd be better off with a straight EV or a gas Hybrid.

@mikeburdette66338 ай бұрын
It isn’t that we, as Americans, necessarily love or hate electrification of our vehicles, but it is government, be it elected or non elected entities (EPA) trying to mandate or force us into driving something that we cannot afford, do not want, and our power grid will never support if implemented. If auto makers would expand further on Ram’s hybrid system of getting the vehicle rolling, because acceleration is the fuel thirstiest part of driving. They are over engineering everything.

My picks: Small truck: Maverick precisely for the same reasons you guys gave. I also live in a huge city where unplowed roads are almost never an issue, so a FWD hybrid is a viable option for me. Midsize crossover: also an Outlander PHEV. It looks very japanese, it would go great with some low bumpers and side skirts, neon and some anime waifu graphics. Midsize truck: I think Ranger Raptor, because it's more powerful than the ZR2 Colorado ar the cost of only having 33s. I wouldn't have picked the Bison anyway. Sportscar: the base C8 Corvette, a sub-$100k supercar with a normal cross-plane crankshaft V8 engine note. Fullsize truck: the V6 Raptor 37. I like how it's less extreme than the Raptor R, while still being very capable. EV truck: Tesla Cybertruck, cos it looks the coolest while still being offroad-worthy 3-row crossover: Dodge Durango, cos it's almost my favorite X164 GL Fullsize BoF SUV: Nissan Patrol elsewhere and, I think, the Sequoia in the US market. It's not super remarkable, it's just the least boring one. Large luxury SUV: the GLS if they still make them with low range. HD truck: F250 Tremor because it's the best looking one. Offroad SUV: Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×e Trailhawk, cos it does it all: nice handling with that Alfa Romeo platform, it's powerful, efficient, can do full EV range, it's capable offroad, and it's very good-looking, better than Wranglers and Broncos. For the international pick I'd go BYD 方程豹 豹5 - a cool plug-in hybrid with both front and rear lockers and active independent suspension. EV: just to have it different from my EV truck, i'm gonna pick the R1T. R1S is ugly with that flat root that looks like a head with a cut off brain cage. Affordable car: Jimny for the international market, Maverick for NA. If price was no object: Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 4×4²
