I am not sure how anyone is not bringing up that a half ton with a naturally aspirated engine (no turbos) pretty much did the exact same time as a 3/4 ton diesel truck with a turbo and big torque with the exact same load. I would have to say that 5.0 is pretty damn impressive
@sonictech10007 ай бұрын

The difference is, that diesel can and will do that test over and over and over and over with zero issues while the NA five-oh would likely brake something or overheat something at some point. They both got 24 liter to 100 km on flat terrain in northern Alberta at -30 C. The new diesels are too choked back with all the emissions stuff on them. To be fair, let's throw in the recharge losses for the Tesla (same for F150 lightning and Rivian) of 7% and say that the Cybertruck actually used about 22 KWH, it is still almost 2.5 times the efficiency of gas or diesel. The Cybertruck has the 120 KWH battery, which is equivalent to 3.2 gallons of diesel or 3.6 gallons of gasoline. I don't know how the Ike is actually, but they said they are only driving a couple miles each way with the towing. From hope to summit it's 60km each way. The elevation change on IKE sounds way worse

@SlimSpida7 ай бұрын
The Coq is steeper, longer, and faster. It may have more turns too, although I'm judging that from watching Ike videos. It has 8.5% grades at the steepest points. Speed limits go up to 120km/hr in the best conditions. The lower overall elevation means that we don't have the same effects of thinner air, but it's a big drive, up or down. The portion of the Ike they measure is more like a 600+ meter change in elevation. The other highway I towed up recently was 40D in Mexico. That climbs from sea level to 8700ft in ~70 miles between Mazatlan and Durango.
@djtesseract30647 ай бұрын
@@gerhardschulzythe climb on the Coquihalla Highway after Hope is up to 12.5% grade while the Ike never gets past 8%. The Coquihalli is a MUCH MORE BRUTAL TEST of hill climb due to its steepness versus the Ike Gauntlet. I would loooooove to see a climb test from past Hope, BC up to the top of the hill which is a 12 mile (19 km) climb at up to 12.5% grade during the big hill climb part!

Why does everything need to be controlled by the screne? I dont like using touch screnes while im driving, i feel more automakers going touch screne only, especially for silly things like a glove box, is a miss. At least add some buttons to the stearing column and/or wheel that i can use to work the screne instead of taking my hands away from the wheel to attempt to touch an icon on a screne, which can be awkward on rough roads. Even modern harleys let you fully controll the screne with touch or buttons on the handle bars.

The battery is 123 KWH and it used 20 KWH going uphill and gained back 5 KWH. So it cost 15KWH to go to the top and come back down. So, if you do this again and again repetitively, then you can go up and down EIGHT TIMES on the Ike before running out of juice. The Cummins and the Ford has about 31 or 36 gallon tanks and use around 2 gallons to go up and come down (we don’t know the exact downhill mpg but usually coasting downhill shows 30-99 mpg in my vehicles). So I calculated with 2 gallons of fuel for up and down total. The two ICE vehicles can do this up and down route approximately 15-18 times vs 8 times the Tesla.
