The Florida Orchestra is pleased to announce Michael Francis as its new music director starting with the 2015/2016 season, and serving as music director designate for the upcoming 2014/2015 season. Although his primary role is with the Tampa Bay Times Masterworks series, he will also conduct one concert each season on the Raymond James Pops and the morning Coffee Concert series. This reflects Michael Francis' personal desire to be fully-integrated artistically with the orchestra and the organization.
In addition to being the Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor to Sweden's Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Michael Francis has been hailed as a rising star internationally, conducting the London, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Toronto symphonies, the New York, Japan and Seoul philharmonics, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Mariinsky Orchestra among other major orchestras in North America, Asia and Europe.
