Long time TFS fans will remember that they once had serious beef with Sabat over merchandising rights because Funimation shut down their merch booths a few times. TFS even had to make an apology video after one of them flew off the handle, I think it was Lani if I recall correctly. Sabat wanting to work together with them later in spite of this is nothing surprising. He is a manipulative sociopath, something that is a matter of historical fact backed up my large swaths of Funimation employees. It’s basically a common Sabat tactic to make you feel indebted to him because he has control issues. He probably realized that bullying TFS wasn’t a good look after their skyrocketing popularity and “changed his tune” to remain favorable in the public eye. Something he often does.
