Did it few weeks ago on my S80 2.4D 2010. Decoding the CEM took 18hrs and for some reason it did not work out at the first time so I had to do it again. Price in Vdash at the time was 199€. Very good and extremely helpful video, thank you for making it!

When you say "twisted wire pair, do you mean, soldering a long piece of wire to the red volvo terminal cables, and then twisting the wires coming off that down to the OBD wires? Just a bit confused there.

Nice video. The 2 wires from OBD to the display. Are they needed? Or what do they actually do? Installed the TFT display without the 2 wires and it seems to work just fine. Fuel gauge is not correct, but I haven't gone for a test drive yet.

Very Good video. I follow all the instructions and it is working but the only think is that the speedometer is in miles (like it supposed to be because I am in US) but the odometer shows in kilometers. And I ask the people from d5t5 to help me fix that, but I guess they are too busy. You probably know. Or you may tell me how can I reverse so I can put the old cluster back. I did try to go back and install the old cluster but it didn’t give me the option. Thank you. I hope you can help me. All your videos are really helpful.

Are you supposed to connect the negative clamp to the negative terminal? I've seen elsewhere that you're supposed to connect it to unpainted metal away from the positive terminal to make sure you don't cause a fire from the fumes or something. He shows it connected to the negative terminal so I'm just confused on which way is the proper way.

Did on mine, now I have DIM error no DIM detected... but the replacement works. It looks amazing but I do not know if I will keep it because I cannot reset the clock or maintenance so it tells me every time I start the car that maintenance is overdue... when it is not. 2011 S80.

Seriously, I was expecting to see the final result for a while longer....and see the changes with before/after comparison, for people who doesn't know those models.

There is something else that can happen. After everything is insalled properly, the car might not start. It says immobilizer active. The only way to get the car to start is to put the old dim in, start the car and then switch the dim again while the car is started. Problem fixed. Did it on my S80 V8.

why do you need to remove the wires if you give the old counter back? I have already wired the old counter that is in use, I already have a new counter in the garage ... dice comes in 14 days .... but the car works without problems with these wires (xc70 MY12)

Hello, I know this is an old post but will like to know if your TFT works fine and what is/are the limitations and your odometer readings, was it affected by the dim change? How do you change/correct the time and reset service light after the retrofit?

The time can be changed by using VDash app on a windows pc (it's done automatically when you connect to your car through the ODB port), the service light can be reset in the menu or with some combination of buttons, don't remeber which. The limitations are listed in the How to article listed in this video description. (the eco meter is not showing anything and the power meter on the red theme does not indicate the real power level just something that has to do with the rpm or something like that).

@@viperx220racing3 The wiring is different between halogen car and a bi-xenon. Wiring harness is different, can not just enable it with software.

@@viperx220racing3 yes there are writeups for how to do it on the P3 V70, the harness has different pins on the xenon models to power the ballast and other wiring things inside the headlight. The software changes only enable the active bending lights if the correct hardware is installed on the suspension of the car. Check Swedespeed

What where the steps like in the tft software? Is the old cluster the most time consuming part, that cracks the cem, is that before step 4? Does the dim code go away when complete? Is the new tft loaded after step 4, is it a long process, did u get a message once or twice about a volvo dealership and getting locked out due to using unsanctioned hardware?

2011 didn't have dedicated DRL so it would do nothing even if the auto worked. I once swapped an "Auto" switch from a 2014 V60 to my 2008 XC70 to see if it activates foglights as DRL like on new XC70s, nothing happened, low beam in all three positions (0, Auto, Low beam).

​@@johannessoonik1007 Yes, I'd be expecting DRL lights not to work (as I don't have any), but since on "0" I have low beams turned OFF, I'd expect them to come ON in low light, as the car has a light sensor near the City Safety camera. Also, on V40 models, when driving in shade or cloudy weather with "Auto", the parking lights switch ON in order to have the the tail lights light up and more visible. So on "Auto" I'd expect OFF lights in daylight; ON parking lights in shade / woods / sunset, and ON low beam in low light.

I have two questions concerning the TFT retrofit thru Vdash: 1. In the Tft Dim,does the EPB light apear when activated or have you lost this function? 2. Must the Dice interface software be installed on the laptop with vida or will the unit work alone with vdash as helper software interface? I mean,if i download vdash alone on my laptop and plug the dice into the usb port,will it work ? I have the Tft cluster since 2013 (waited for xemodex to figure it out and also for vesper volvo,but vdash seems the only good solution)and i really want to install it. Guys and Gals. I have to retract my earlier comment. It took awhile, but I think Pavel works solo so understandable, but he did get back to me with a fix on the software side which worked!! I guess my experience is the rarity. usually this TFT replacement procedure works on the first go without a hitch. But either way, D5T5 followed up and made it work! Super happy, Pavel is awesome. Highly recommend doing this........

Does anyone know what happens if you plug in the TFT speedo without doing the cable mod? Should it light up at all or be dead? Just received a TFT odo for my V70 2013 that lacks the two extra leads, plugged it in just to see so it works - however nothing appears, connecting the original old odo back still works fine. Will know for sure once I receive the terminals from Volvo later this week. Would have assumed that the TFT is powered the same way as the original odo, unless of course the two new leads provide extra power or some new voltages.
