don’t know how or why this hasn’t happened yet, but I need to tell *someone.* Tgcf react to WWX as the new calamity/ghost king. Guy dies in the burial mounds and comes back to finish the war, adopts a bunch of people, takes a thirteen year depression nap wherein everyone thinks he’s *dead* dead, and then gets summoned by a dead twink to solve a cold case. His strongest sentiment is to help & protect people who cannot help themselves, so he sees a group of teenagers and goes “ah, yes I am a father again”. MQ: hey that’s the guy who was supposed to send after killing the slaughter tortoise! FX: I always wondered what happened to that guy… That guy (WWX): [became a calamity] MQ/FX: oh. Oh no. Wwx would be below black water and above qi rong in terms of outright power, but below Hua Cheng and above black water in terms of finesse/fine control. My reasoning is that he can remove and destroy golden cores in less than 6 seconds. He would absolutely try to kill qi rong. *”ah I see, this is ye olde wen chao,”* is WWX’s immediate thoughts when first meeting qi rong. Anyways thanks for listening to me ramble, I just thought it would be a cool idea.

He had a good reason for leaving, which was for his mother and he was under pure pressure by the other officials on that mountain he didn't know everything that was going on bc xie lian didn't tell any of them. Reminder he's came from a poor family so he didn't truly believe xie lian liked him (a royale becoming frinds with a servent?), but they fix that towards the end of the novel with Feng xin ofc
