My Savage Worlds group played this for a while and really enjoyed it. They really loved the Quick Chase Deck, which is something fairly new and different than the old Chase Rules. The Status Cards are useful in reminding players of possible effects they need to account for. A great point about the GM freely dishing out Bennies. It’s nice that the players don’t feel compelled to horde them. It really does make a difference. I think this is really well done and while it may seem pricey, it’s worth all of the content that’s included in this box set.

@themadman9735 Agreed, the Chase Deck is brilliant, and everything in the box is actually useful - not just a big box 'stuffed out' with filler, promo items that happens from time to time.

Hey Jeff. Great to see the review. I agree about Hollow's Last Hope. Personally, from the early PF1 modules, I think they'd have been better going with 'Into the Haunted Forest,' which starts with a barroom brawl, leads into the domain of a dead forest king, whilst PCs are on a treasure hunt trying to stay ahead of a bunch of antagonistic mercenaries. 'We Be Goblins!' would have been great too, but maybe doesn't work so well as an introductory module if you don't want to play goblins. I'm doing some late Gaming Gang "on Memorex" catch-ups. Enjoyed this a lot. BTW - sadly, PEG don't have the license to make pawns, but Paizo's pawns have been made available during the Kickstarters.

We are playing this these days. Great fun and a superb adaptation.

Great review. It looks like PEG run sales on the core box on their website now and then, and I think $149 USD for all of what you showed is well worth it. I look forward to getting my players into this one. 🍻😈⚔

I find Savage Worlds, in general, plays very smoothly at the table and on a vtt.

Curse of the Crimson Throne was paired in a Kickstarter with the Advanced Player's Guide. The physical APG has already been delivered to backers, but I'm not sure how far along they are with the CotCT adventure path.
@MisanthropicPrime9 ай бұрын
I received my APG and CotCT in the same shipment as a backer.
@kevinrsmith29479 ай бұрын
@MelPrimus I was only able to back for the APG, so I didn't keep track of the adventure path. Good to know that it's out.

I'm not interested in Pathfinder as a rules system, but Savage Worlds looks like it could be fun.
@kevinrsmith29479 ай бұрын
I figure the Savage Pathfinder rules can be used to bring any class-based D&D-type fantasy setting to Savage Worlds. They *say* it's Savage Worlds roleplaying in Golarion, but there's nothing to hold you to that.

Savage worlds is a great rules lite rpg. I have introduced several players to the ttrpg hobby using it.

I have been trying this with my Pathfinder group for a couple of months now and we came to the conclusion that it's finally time to put the original Pathfinder to rest, it gave us thousands of hours of enjoyment that we will treasure forever but we think that Savage World has a better overall framework and rules, I have been a fan of Swade since it came out but this is just perfect for our table. I also agree on the adventure being rather bland but this is a stapple of Pinnacle apparently, they have interesting worlds and settings (aside from deadlands, ultima forsan is one of my preferred) but their adventures don't really showcase the full potential of the system, don't think they've ever released a proper campaign either, they are mostly focused on their "plotpoint campaign" which are nice if you want to run a quick game but really don't hold all that well in long games.
@kevinrsmith29479 ай бұрын
The adventure was originally written for Pathfinder 1e. In fact, it was the first published adventure for the Pathfinder RPG. Any issues with the adventure structure are not Pinnacl'e's fault.
@paulll479 ай бұрын
@@kevinrsmith2947 Didn't know that, still I've tried other Pinnacle's adventures and I thought the same thing, don't take me wrong, I really like the settings themselves but I think Pinnacle would benefit more from actual campaigns books rather than the plot point adventures.

@@paulll47 If you're GMing Deadlands, Horror on Headstone Hill is a fantastic mini campaign with a lot of variety and the opportunity to drop some jaws with an interesting twist. If Deadlands isn't your thing, the East Texas University campaign (four academic years that end in a full-on Buffy-style conclusion), for me, is excellent with lots of extra side adventures to go with it.
@paulll478 ай бұрын
@@Wraithing I missed that one for Deadlands, they haven't translated yet in my language, will definitely check it out, I'm a sucker for boxed sets. East Texas University is something I always wanted to try but never found the will to fork the cash for, every time I try to buy it, I always second guess whether I need it or not, will wait for a sale to pick it up at this point though, heard a lot of good things about it.

@@paulll47 Good idea to wait on ETU. I'm thinking it'll probably get the SWAdE remaster treatment sometime this year or at latest 2025. Although I've not heard anything official there were interesting whispers when Tracy, Ed and Presto were chatting about the Pinebox Middleschool Kickstarter.
