Ozai generates lightning so quickly and with two hands. You can see the power difference between him and other lightning benders. The musical score when Zuko struggles against it before redirecting it is so good. The peak of this show is the rest of the show. No lie.

@@gazelle_diamond9768 how? lol mako is also capable of weak lightning with no charge up and so was lightning bolt zolt, Azula's charge up was also decreased in her fight vs. Katara in the finale. Azula's lightning feats aren't inconsistent - Ball Lightning is a thing irl, and editing the form of their element is something every sub can do. Azula is also a perfectionist and it's implied she's trained with lightning for hours - so her being able to control the current and create weaker Lightning. Comics story wise leaves some to be desired, but the comics feats aren't really that stupid, just overhated, as the ATLA fandom is notorious for hating on nearly anything other then the og show, pretty sure y'all would hate the Kyoshi & Yangchen novels if yall knew they existed.

That's like them ebing able to generate fire but not manipualte it in any way. Why would lightning be the ONLY sub in the verse to not be able to manipulate what it produces? Lavabenders can make lava but also soldify and manipulate it, combustion users can curve their shots, sand and metal benders can manipulate their element freely. See this is where the flawed logic starts. Mind you, Azula's lightning feats aren't unrealistic or crazy. She uses it to blind Aang & Zuko, which makes sense, she isn't controlling the lightning just generating a bright 'spark' She learns how to redirect it, which makes sense, Azula has always been adaptable and a prodigy (coming up with the ba sing se coup after seeing the gaang defeat the drill from the inside out) so after seeing Lightning Redirection in the last angi kai, and see how Zuko countered a major part of her arsenal in The Search it makes sense she would attempt to find a way to put an end to it. Lightning Balls exist irl and it's just making it into a sphere rather than a 'beam' and the wide AOE lightning is just expanding her lightning out over an area rather than a single concentrated point. Her beign able to control the strength/current of her lightning shows her skill and prowess.

Mark Hamill didn't say that kids wouldn't understand it. He joked in an interview that it would get cancelled after like three episodes because it didn't talk down to children. He wasn't saying it was too smart for kids, but that it was too smart for the production company because they habitually underestimate how smart kids are.

Zuko has the best character development arc of all time in my opinion, and its in a "kid's show." The scene between him and Ozai makes me so proud and every time I watch it I feel so amazed at his bravery. This moment is even better when you realize that for the entire show the voice actor for Ozai is the legendary Mark Hamill (not just Luke Skywalker but also the voice of Joker from Batman the Animated Series and Arkham Knight video games). I can only imagine how Zuko's voice actor, Dante Basco, felt working with him.

The bars of Iroh's prison cell were bent outward not melted. Iroh was exercising so when the time came he could brute force his way out when the guards wouldn't be able to stop him.

I've said before, if i were the Fire Nation, I'd have burned the survivors to ash. They're crafty, dangerous to be kept alive considering the likes of Tyro, Hakoda, and the Mechanist, and it would lower the morale of the escapees and the other nations considerably

Except all that will do is give the resistance even more reason to fight and, when they get the upper hand, to absolutely annihilate you. Look at the situation in Ukraine right now: Russia is bombing their cities and their soldiers have been caught on camera butchering women, children and the elderly. All that has done is fuel the Ukraine spirit to push back even harder. What was supposed to be a '3 day war' has been going on for almost 2 years.

An experienced firebender like Iroh can accutely control the intensity of heat and force that their fire projects. My theory is that, being so in tune with his bending and spirituality, iroh was able to keenly sense the eclipse approaching; letting off a forceful blast to bust out, just before bending was lost, and then proceeded to beat everyone's ass the old fashioned way... Case in point: the guard is still lying at the cell even several minutes (at least) since the eclipse ended, drooling and disoriented in a way that has never been seen as a result of taking damage from firebending (also no noticeable burns or charring of clothing).
