As someone who would have been born Irish if my grandparents could have stayed in Ireland (Waterford to be presice) I feel kind of sad, nostalgic (for something I never knew, first hand anyway) and proud all at once.... grew up with a lot of London Irish and Kentish Irish and my Grandda wanted me to be born on the 17 March but I was late by a few days ... he was called Padraic Keane

Thanks for saying Irish is a beautiful sounding language! It's actually quite boring sometimes >.< but I'm glad you like the way the Irish language sounds :D I'm Irish myself and I highly appreciate your complement to our language :3 but Irish is a dying language so I can see why you thought we only speak English.
@michelleflood82207 жыл бұрын
Tsumiki Mikan Trash its beautiful and poetic to me I'm learning it as someone who has 2/3 of her ancestry being Irish it's a way to get close to my roots and to know I can one day talk to my cousins in this is something i love !! And I politely disagree it's a dying language otherwise why would the education board bother teaching it for a start and why would they be trying to give greater access to education of it in the north so I doubt it will die out but understand why it might seem that way as not many use it on a daily basis which is a shame but they do if they live within a Gaeltacht area of one of the three dialects of Irish for instance Donegal ( Ulster ) or cork ( Munster Gaeltacht ) but otherwise without daily use it might but given there's rte and every government job requires you to pass a test in it as part of application and that it's on a lot of signage in most places let's hope it doesn't die !!
