People keep forgetting Tony wasn’t the only one singing in the group Toriano Easley was the one singing on their first album also … he had the heavy voice … I hate he didn’t get a chance to return to the group to show his talent also … whoever put this group together definitely had a vision for the original members …
@julslatt62948 ай бұрын
That debut album went platinum and few #1 one singles.. years to come, history will rightful acknowledge him bcz his name is forever tied to everyone of those original studio master recordings. The original 90s group disbanded in 1994.. may have missed that time-window, out ‘97… God works in mysterious way, protecting us.. and is it still same music career he wants, being only 16 y/o back then, his friend Tony did a reincarnation of group, and released ‘05 album The Return, he was not part of project, heard sings gospel. ✝️

JIVE was being tight with the fund$. Jive has a history of doing that we’re tight with funding with UGK in the early days. But honestly that whole label was Team R.Kelly back then so in other words if it wasn’t about R. Kelly the label wasn’t trying to hear it
@TheNewgreatlife2 жыл бұрын
@@TrillestLDR. Kelly was definitely their golden boy, but Hi-Five's first two albums got proper promotion. The only reason Jive didn't try that hard with their 3rd album is because Hi-Five were already planning to leave the label after their three-album contract with Jive ran out. They talk about it in their Unsung episode. The guys made it clear to Jive they were signing with another label so Jive put in the bare minimum effort.
@TrillestLD2 жыл бұрын
@@TheNewgreatlife Yeah I’ve watched UnSung episode before but it also seems that guy’s weren’t happy money wise either. And I know people in the industry talk especially artists. And Hi-Five probably heard about what other acts we’re making I know that played apart in their departure from JIVE. 65K after two Gold albums with Platinum singles back then that’s a small check in my opinion.

To a certain extent I agree with your opinion concerning the J-5, but not totally, because Jermaine was DOPE as well as Marlon, Tito & Jackie who were NOT WEAK either!!! Jermaine played Bass, Danced & sang lead & backgrounds & believe me as a Guitarist myself who sings & plays (but NOT DANCE) that shit is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DO!!!! MJ, was a freaking Alien!!! His singing, dancing🕺🏽& performing abilities were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!

@@tonycook1913, I definitely agree that Jermaine (as well as the other brothers) was somewhat jealous of MJ, but by the time Jermaine went SOLO I believe he realized that MJ WAS THE FREAKING MAN & he had to HUMBLE himself & come to grips with it!!! And that’s probably why he eventually agreed to do that “Motown 25th Anniversary” show & the “Victory” album!!! But again……MJ was part ALIEN 👽😂😂😂, but Jermaine & his brothers were AWESOME too!!! I loved Pooh and Tony. I was excited to see them on Apollo. Russell’s purpose was to be a filler, somebody added to keep the group going. He was a dancer, not a singer and I couldn’t believe they let him sing here. I was shocked as I watched it. He was the group’s Mike, had no real purpose of being in the group, it would’ve kept going with or without him, but at least Mike Biv had talent for discovering talent and had a business mind.

There were reason, basically from the top brass, as simply put by someone who was there at record company… as stated in 2014 Unsung “they were going were they suppose to go.. doing what they were told to do” the first album turned platinum with Toriano vocals, but that second album he allowed to say a few words and the final album which Never Should Have Let You Go, which Tony worked solely with Joe who’s vocals are on recording, it’s said sales covered the budget expenses only.. Tony was simultaneously also working on his Giant solo project…he was being over worked and it was not right, shame on all those who turned a blind eye! 😔 m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ-8Yn-GibqDldE

Toriano Easley voice is the deep voice on the album..Treston came as a replacement for him, because Toriano shot and killed somebody in a fight...that's part of the story that's never been told..I also had a chance to get in the group as a lead after Tony had left but Terrence Murphy was playing politics with me because he wanted to sing lead.
