To add to this a bit, for those returning after a hiatus, although TGS hit up nearly everything well already: Synchro- The "Addition" type. Whatever monster you're trying to summon needs a tuner type and the levels need to add up to the level of the monster. How this is achieved is usually not important. I.E. if you try to summon a level eight, you can use a level seven and a level 1, a level six and a level two, and so on. Some monsters will need two or more material though so always read what your target needs as well. There's also two evolved forms of synchro summoning. The first is Accel Synchro Summoning. This is just a fancy way of saying that the monsters used for the Synchro summon must be Synchro monsters themselves. This includes the turners. So in essence you'd: A: Synchro summon two monsters, one of which is also a tuner, or can be made to act like one if some requirement is met. B: You then perform another Snychro using the synchro monsters to bring out the Accel Synchro. If you're thinking that this subset of Synchros must be powerful, you're generally correct, though as with all types of monsters, there's clear winners and losers too. The second is called Double Tuning. These Synchros require two or more Tuners to be used in their summoning, rather than one. Again, some of these monsters are powerful enough to warrant the additional hurdle. XYZ- The "Same Level Type". The easiest to use, you simply need however many monsters the card says it requires, and they must match the Rank of the XYZ. I.E. You want to summon a Rank 8 XYZ that requires three material. You would summon three Level 8 monsters and then overlay them together to summon the XYZ on top. Boom, easy. There also exist "Rank Up" cards that can allow you to summon another higher Rank XYZ on top of one already on the field, in addition to some XYZ cards that can just automatically do this themselves with the right conditions. Neither method is complex and simply reading the cards will inform you of what you'll need to use them. Pendulum: The "I can be a spell too! Type" Pendulum cards are well known for their unpredictability, since they often like to destroy themselves, can summon out a ton of monsters, and depending on their place on the field have different effects. The best way to learn how to use them is to either play test one yourself, or if you've a friend or someone you know that uses them, watch them play. While not difficult to pick up, there's timing to learn for using their effects, summoning and so on. Skilled Pendulum players can make very worrying opponents. Honestly Links aren't difficult. Especially after the revision to Master Rule. Just remember that: A: They can only go into the Extra Monster Slot, unless another link is there first. Then you can have more go to any zone the first one points to. And if you're wondering if it's possible for one player to go all the way to the other Extra zone and rob your opponent of it...yes! Out of the most complex, it's Synchros, and even then only due to needing to make sure your materials add up correctly. Also if you want a strong deck to try to get back into the game without even needing an Extra deck, may I suggest the Monarch archetype?
@casoclashomega3 жыл бұрын
I thought this was a handy explanation for the ED/Sub Monsters until you said Monarch. But no, this is pretty handy to have for new players, especially since I'm bad at teaching them myself. As for on-hand learning, I recommend building some beginner-friendly decks that are primarily normal monsters and simple effect monsters that have easy to follow effects, like speed warrior and old flip effect cards, to help them get adjusted to the core basics of dueling. Eventually, have them practice making a deck out of a selection of cards you have for them and duel using it. Tried it out of a kid during Thanksgiving, and every time he sees me he would always ask for a duel.
@LuisFelipe-pq9lr3 жыл бұрын
Monarch are a really good recommendation, they are easy to place and its a anti-meta deck as you can break your opponent plays in a lot of ways, the only downside is that you will test the other summoning methods, so I have other recommendations: For Tribute Summon: Monarch For Ritual Summon: Neckroz (Best - Kind Competitive) Blue-Eyes Chaos Max For Fusion Summon: Hero Cyber Dragon (Best - Kind Competitive) ABC For Synchro Summon: Crystron Junk Speedroid For XYZ: Zoodiac (Best - Kind Competitive) Utopia/Onomatopoeia (Best - Kind Competitive) Phantom Knights For Pendulum: Pendulum Magician (Best - Kind Competitive) Performapal Performage (Best - Kind Competitive) Edimynion For Link: Cyberse

@MysticEle3 жыл бұрын
@@LuisFelipe-pq9lr I wouldn't suggest Crystron for that actually. Ikoria is my favorite expansion right now because of the companion mechanic. just having the OPTION to do something as a 100% guarantee is really nice. i cant go a week without going 6+ turns without a land card in a 22~26 land deck.

@@jslasher5330 I think Link ends up being even simpler than Tribute summon, at base you just add monsters together to make bigger ones & don't care about levels at all, unlike every other special summoning mechanic in the game except fusion. Would really be that bad if "Polymerization" and "Fusion" spell cards were thier own unique cards like ritual Spells. And Yes I want to be able to search Dragons Mirror
@syrelian3 жыл бұрын
It probably wouldn't have been an issue when the game is young, but at this point we both have Poly types that span most of the other card types, and many cards explicitly designed against being searchable with generic Fusion support, like, yes, Dragon Mirror(meanwhile fuckin Magicalized can be a "Fusion" card), so both the retcon effort would be huge, and there would be some implications on all sorts of cards, things like effects that search for certain kinds of Poly-likes via keys like Quick-Play

I'm kinda confused on Chaining and some "Missed Timing Stuff" I played Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generations and some of the Tag Force Series and they have different ways😌
@syrelian3 жыл бұрын
The chaining stuff is because all the video games play by OCG rules, which have some different behavior from how the TCG handles chaining mandatory effects, Missing the Timing is a bit of a weird concept entirely built on two concepts: Optional Triggered Effects, and When vs If Ok so, when the condition of a triggered effect is met, and said effect is optional, that is, it says "you CAN" rather then just "when x do y" If the wording uses the word If, eg "If your opponent destroys a monster", you can't miss the timing, but must respond to it at the first possible timing if you wish to use the optional effect But if it uses When, you can miss, eg "When your opponent destroys a monster" Missing the Timing occurs when the triggering event(eg, destruction) happens in the middle of a chain, because while the condition was fulfilled, its no longer When the event occurred at the next chance to activate cards, its now the When of the Chain Link 1 card resolving, mandatory effects always go off though, regardless of wording

@TheKaienshibasnejiba3 жыл бұрын
@@enmadaniaisabel1552 no. Just cause it fuses doesnt mean it has to be a fusion spell. There are already monster cards that act as spells, a couple of quick play spells used for rituals, etc. If it would be normal, it would be a fusion. If its a special type it would take that less common type to capitalize on what the specific card does uniquely.

@@ciphymasterofmedia9104 This is the idiots guide, not the lets go over 75 cards guide in all fairness. Fusion summoning is probably the most simplistic extra summoning that people know from their childhood, best not to make it confusing by describing every little card that's been added. Point was polymerization was the base used for fusion, even if there's different fusion spells or substitutes.

2 points I find interesting and it was not covered in video. Quick-play spells cannot be activated the turn they are set on field, but can be played from hand during your turn (even to chain). So keep it in your hand and set at end of your turn if you may use (learned this on link evolution when I used a card that set a spell from deck and was confused why I couldn't activate). When talking about pendulums, you can only summon the pendulums face up in the extra deck to the extra monster zone OR a zone a link points to. This includes your opponents link arrows. This enables you to summon multiple out from the extra deck.

Some fusion monsters can be fusion summoned without polymerization or a fusion spell. They can be fusion summoned by trap cards or monster effects. Some fusion monsters don't need to be fusion summoned, therefore it is known as contact fusion. Contact fusion is when monsters on the field gets to be returned to the deck, sent to the graveyard or to be banished in order to special summon (or Contact Fusion) the fusion monster from the Extra Deck. Example of monsters for Contact Fusion: Elemental HERO Neos fusion monsters, Gladiator Beast fusion monsters, Six Samurai fusion monsters and Trishula, Dragon of the Icy Imprisonment. Synchro monsters can be Synchro Summoned by card effects too. With or without needing Synchro materials on the field as well. There are some Tuner monsters have effects that lets you use other Synchro materials from your hand or graveyard (using materials in the graveyard are required to be banished or returned to the deck via card effect). It can be treated as Synchro summon by a card effect or it is treated as special summon (there are rules that if a monster type such as Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz and Link, is special summoned and not treated as the type of summon, then the monster with one of these types above is NOT summoned properly and therefore cannot be special summoned from the graveyard or banish pile). There are 2 synchro monsters that have an effect that can't be Synchro summoned but can be special summoned by their own effects. Phantasmal Lord Ultimitl Bishbaalkin needs to have a level 8 or higher Tuner and non-Tuner monster with the same level in order to special summon. They will be sent to the graveyard as normal. Tzolkin Ultimaya has the same summon ruling as Bishbaalkin but requires level 6 Tuner and non-Tuner to be special summoned. Thank you
