This konquest mode really shows that all you have to do is let the player run around the realms and interact/fight characters from the MK universe and we'll be satisfied. Not sure what netherrealm can't seem to comprehend about this in the newer games' additional modes

The completely customizable custom characters is the feature that continues to keep this game as my favorite in the franchise, and the nostalgia of growing up playing it thousands of times. Gotta love good ol' PS2

Armageddon Konquest was neat for being a completely different game but it always bugged me from a lore perspective as Deception's Konquest hinted at The One Being being the next villain but then every plotline introduced in Deception was rendered irrelevant to a complete asspull of a doomsday prophecy for a Gary Sue who spends the majority of the story mode being led around with no agency...

Blaze had agency, as he was a test for the two brothers, Taven and Daegon, and, unlike the other big bads of the franchise, Blaze wasn't really a villain per se, and that makes him (if you can call a fire golem a him, anyway) rather unique, not just in Mortal Kombat lore, but also in video game lore, as he was one of the few final bosses in a fighting video game that was NOT technically a bad guy. Also, if anything, The One Being is ironically the Gary Stu that is in the franchise, as Midway/Netherrealm Studios never had the f u c k i n g b a l l s to be consistent with the character. His name is also generic as f u c k , his move set does not exist, he is not even a playable character that is in the franchise, and he should have really been introduced in Mortal Kombat 4 as Shinnok's boss, if not even earlier, like in Mortal Kombat 3, as The One Being, or, as I prefer to call him, Nexus. This character, Nexus, would have been the real boss of the franchise, and that beings like Shao Khan, Kotal Khan, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Onaga, etc., would have been working under him without their knowledge, and/or been manipulated by him without their knowledge, and ditto for the other villains, and heroes, in order to be s a c r i f i c e s to his evil goals, and/or to himself, in a sort of Satanic cult/Galactcus hybrid sort of way, as Nexus feeds on the wills of evildoers, and the righteousness of heroes, alike, thus the Mortal Kombat tournament was originally, as well as technically, being his idea, as he manipulated Shao Khan, as well as others, to compete in said tournament, but hiding the fact that, regardless of who won the Mortal Kombat tournament, he could ultimately manipulate things his way in the end. Now, as for how he tied into Blaze, well, the answer was simple, originally, Blaze was devised as a test by King Argus, and Queen Delia, for Taven and Daegon to choose which brother would face off Nexus, but, naturally, this information got leaked out to the other Kombatants, as, naturally, there would be accounts of the two brothers, and that Guardian that they would have to face, which naturally meant that this was the way to usurp the power from Nexus, thus Blaze served, not just as a way to see which brother was worthy of having the family legacy of their family, but also their power, prestige, and land, AND, naturally, who would also be ready, willing, able, as well as capable, to fight against Nexus. THIS is how he SHOULD have been introduced, as well as made, in the franchise.

What's interesting looking back, There is this whole other story going on outside of Taven's perspective that he is unaware is going on the whole time, you play literally as the background character who doesn't know what's going on. You can put some pieces together some of what's actually going on for the other heroic characters, but Taven is usually witnessing part of their story arc for a couple seconds or getting into a fight with them. Li Mei actually had quite a journey over the three games, I did not remember her actually beating Shinnok there! And Taven just jumps in to help Shinnok because he's unaware that Shinnok is evil. I'm pretty sure Raiden actually did kill Shujinko before he could take out the bad guys, it would be so cool to see him actually pop off against the Deadly Alliance 2.0. Too bad. But yes, Taven is literally the guy in the background who ultimately doesn't achieve anything because the gets killed by Blaze and Shao Kahn is the won who took the prize.

This is can be the greatest mortal kombat game of all time, if they just give it a fatality and maybe polish the konquest mode. I still believe that Mk Shaolin Monks is the greatest mk story mode game, but one thing that is better in here is that they don't afraid to kill the main character brutally while they don't go as hard in Shaolin Monks, like bro we wanna see Shao Khan freaking smashes the hell out of them, or Sub Zero ripping off our spine, the boss fatality on Mk Shaolin Monks is lame. But yeah this mode is probably one of the best one in that game. So sad that they bucher the game that people consider this the worst Mk game
