You cant tell me success isn't random and sometimes life has no rhyme nor reason. This and plenty of other kiwi music craps all over anything Lorde has ever done and yet she is probably the only kiwi artist to have real solid success in the US ( you could say Crowded House fits in here but they are a NZ/Aussie mix). The number of outstanding bands to come out of NZ in the 70s, 80s , 90s and yet they typically die a death bouncing between NZ, Aussie and sometimes the UK only to come back to NZ and disband.

Great clip! Where did you get this from?! I was roadie for them at that time...this is 1979 NOT 1978..the reason I know it's 1979 is because that's not Th' Dudes regular bass player in this clip! Their regular bass player Lez White broke his wrist and the guy in this clip playing bass is Robbie Sinclair once of Schtung...Robbie filled in for about 6 weeks, I'm guessing around April/May 1979. This is pre Dave Dobbyn bleaching his hair which was mid 1979!!! RIP my bro Ian Morris. Th' Dudes, on their night, were the greatest little rock'n'roll band in the world. Thanks for sharing the memories...Rikki Morris.

@@technical6ify hard to believe that Dave D, Ian Morris and Peter Urlich were all only 22 when this show happened! I was side stage and I would've been 18, nearly 19....
