This place is only 3 km from my home. I went there more than 10 years ago by normal bike (2000 baht) and parked at the pier. Then, there were not so many cafes or food shops at all, most shops sell sweets. It's time for me to make a visit again seeing such video to update my experience.
People over there are the descendants of immigrant Mon from Myanmar. Mon were ancient indigenous people of Thailand before Tai immigrants came and merged. Ancient kingdoms of Thailand that are older than 1,000 years belonged to the ancient Mon, back to 2,000+ years. At around 800CE the Khmer empire invaded from the east and enslaved these people in centuries before they declined. The immigrant Tai gathered Mons and Tais then chased away the remnants of Khmer. The 2 ethnics then merged and derived today Thailand's people. Among them, the Tai was precedent that they assimilated the Mons to speak Tai, making Thai the more descendant language of Tai than that of Mon.
