Hello Théo. Today I had my first SIV class with another instructor (I was worried about my level of French). To my surprise, the instructor just said « show me what you think a wing over is » without any explanation whatsoever! In my head, I kept remembering your tutorial, and I did a great job for a first time. Out of all the manœuvres I did today, this maneuver seemed to be the easiest. Thank you🌸

Good tutorial! For a beginner it might be helpful to teach also about keeping the WO small and exit if it becomes asymetric or with unsufficient energy. I know that many people have the problem of a WO which is becoming bigger and bigger but they don't like it and can't stop properly.

Great video thanks for explaining. the only problem is the fish eye cam. so it is hard to estimate the position of the glider to the horizon. May you can change the camera to the old one for the next videos. Than it would much easier for me to understand.

Thank you now I finally know when to pull. See my most active time was 1991-2010 and I remember a guy he knew well to wing over and asymmetric. That was in the 90s when it was the top of acro haha . I asked him how to do but he didn't want to tell me. He said no I don't want to tell you because I don't want others can do it too. Haha he was an instructor too blown up and dumb

Thanks Théo foir the tutorial. One question about asymmetric spirals : I had heard that in terms of weightshift, after the end of pitch phase (when you're going up) and during the hands up phase, you need to shift your weight to the outside until the next phase (i.e. inside weight shift and then inside brake).
@PhilippeLarcher2 жыл бұрын
We can see he's doing it but he's not mentioning it, I guess for him it's just intuitive to keep the glider straight during acceleration but I also find this explanation missing. Maybe he can tell us more of he sees the comments

Nice tutorial. Thanks Theo. just wonder if it is ok to grab risers to help to switch weight shift to another side when pilot dives down from highest point? i seem to have issue switch side when doing bigger one. Not sure if it is my issue or harness issue ( i felt my harness seatboard a bit oversized)
@aurel802mx3 жыл бұрын
Since you don't have any answers, I share my thoughts. I would advise never to grab risers and rather use your thumb on one hand to push yourself a little if necessary. Don't try to force it, as long as you are putting weight/strenght, the input is transmitted to your wing. The risk, if you grab your risers, is that in an usual situation you might forget to pilot your glider out of fear and keep olding your risers. Hope this is helpful :)

Thanks for the tutorial.i have a question ,what happen if you insidebreak so much( Overreact)?collapse inside?)
@theoflies4 жыл бұрын
If you inside brake too much you will stall the wing. This is not a usual mistake because the brake pressure is strong so to do that you really need to do everything wrong.

Theo, I noticed you hold outside brake a bit longer than inside one before going hands up... Is it important? Or does it happen unintentionally?
@crashdown453 жыл бұрын
I'm a strong guy, but when I'm doing really big assymetrics my tricep muscles get really worked, like sore... is that normal? Our local acro gurus have told me my big assymetric spirals look really good, but man they really work my arms. Should I be taking an extra wrap? Or braking sooner with less force? My wingovers aren't that big yet.
@PhilippeLarcher2 жыл бұрын
Hello, any particular reason you're not really discussing the weightshift during the acceleration? (to avoid extra roll)
@rickardjonsson45263 жыл бұрын
Superb! One question i dont understand, why is it impossible to be to late on assymetric?
@theoflies3 жыл бұрын
It's not impossible but it's not dangerous. If you are too late you won't have a lot of energy but it will still work enough to pass easily

Wondering if same things apply under parachute canopy?
@aurel802mx3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it applies (I do both paragliding and skydiving) but with a parachute you get a lot less energy because it doesn't fly well. I think it would work better with a small parachute canopy although then it behaves more like a speedflying wing

Cool Tuto!
@theoflies3 жыл бұрын
Si on freine trop tôt on a en effet tendance a visser en spiral à chaque fois. Par contre quelque soit la voile il est possible de faire des wings overs !
