Zain Ali and Zohaib Ali are brothers and the grandsons of Ustad Haji Rehmat Ali Khan who performed for 40 years with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on 2nd Harmonium with him. I'm so glad you talked about the arrangement! The arrangement or instrumentation made this song imo. I typically have my guard up when I come across qawali-based fusion songs cos so many of them end up sounding awkward but these guys did a fantastic job. Throwing a brass band in there was a boss move. This one is definitely in my Top 5 from the season.

You know that Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is from Faisalabad Pakistan. I used to be called Lyallpur back then. His family was the next door neighbor to my mother growing up. My mother was friends with his sisters and they used to play. She always mentioned how Nusrat Sahib was a fat little kid who always had a bag of Gilabis. You mentioned Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and for some reason this story cam to mind.

“Something was awakened inside …” That said everything :) That’s what Coke Studio has always done, and that's what has been missing this season (except for Tu Jhoom, Mehram, Beparwah and Shae Gill in Pasoori) Both of you are too kind to say it, but I can tell from this reaction that Thagyan spoke to the emotions, soul and spirit in a way the other ones I mentioned didn't.
