Gary I am consistently blown away by your knowledge and genuine appreciation of food and for sharing these amazing places with us. And for the lovely friendly way you approach people - your warmth and talent shine through. You deserve a tv show with much larger reach.

I have got to get back there while places like this still exist and thrive. That royal treat was something different that I never saw, even back in the day, and I really want to try it. The brisket dish was definitely like pho, at least the way I make it, and as for the age of the shop it's 78, since I'm 78 and I was born in '46. Carol's daughter and son-in-law may be coming on a trip to Thailand at the end of the year, and I might just try to piggy back on that, only problem being that it would probably be Christmas week. I'll see how it all pans out, but I need to do it.

Never heard of this market , looks nice lots of things to choose from! ❤❤❤
Brilliant episode. I love this market. It's my daily breakfast spot when I am in town. Sor Rungroj for duck noodle soup and Benjarot I also like there. Nathan is a man after my own heart - plans his days around Bangkok eating - good man.
Yummmm @nathan I miss this old old tradition snack will definitely visit and look for it !!

A little different format...really enjoyed the twist. Great job Gary. And...really love to explore dishes not often tried by many Farang and/or younger Thai's. Just the look you get from the when ordering is worth a culinary risk or two!

Nang-loeng market is the very first 'land market ' of Bangkok. Before it's built, people only had float market (water market). Sai-grok Pla-nam is a famous 'before meal ' dish and it's not easy to make it to the perfection. I'm lucky to have my late grandma prepared it for me since I was a boy.

Thai people are kind and passionate. When Thai people brought things in local market, we brought things from senior one, we call them. "aunties or uncles or grandma or mother" as respect seniors even we don't know them, and they sometimes call their young customers "kid, son". Our society are. connected and interacted. When foreigner visited Thailand, they feel warm hearth from local.
