A story behind this Thai's food was, once there was an old women who her daughter just got married and her son in law came to visit. At the time, an old women already prepare tamarind sauce to eat with grilled catfish and vegetable but her son-in-law don't like a catfish so she boiled some duck egg which her son-in-law have a funny idea of fried it again after boiled. After mixing a fried boiled duck egg with tamarind sauce and season with fried shallot an old women was delighted and name this food "Kai Look Khoei", " Son-in-law egg" Of course, there's other version of the story depend on where you live in Thailand.
