Black coffee with condensed milk = gopi
Black coffee with ice = oliang
Black coffee with ice and fresh milk = oliang - yoklo
The name is derived from the Teochew dialect, the language spoken by the majority of Thai Chinese, indicating that oliang is from China. The word "o" means "black" and "liang" means "cold". Oliang is black iced coffee.
Oliang recipes vary. It is prepared from a mixture of coffee, brown sugar, and various grains and seeds like cardamom, corn, soybeans, rice, and sesame seeds.[1]
Traditionally, oliang is brewed with a tungdtom (Thai coffee filter), a tea/coffee sock with a metal ring and handle to which a cotton cloth bag is attached, It is also used for making Thai tea. To make Thai coffee, put the oliang into the coffee sock and pour boiling water through it into a carafe. Let the bag steep for approximately 10 minutes until strong. Oliang is sometimes served with condensed milk, or with a small pitcher of evaporated milk, and one of simple syrup with which the drinker can sweeten the oliang to their taste.

Most of the sweetness is diluted when the hot coffee goes into the ice so you have to start with more sugar than you would normally.

What is the difference between the can and squeeze bottle? Aren't they both condensed milk? Edit: Ok, I've learned to read, so my next question is, why is sweetened in a squeeze bottle and unsweetened is left in a can?
@LoreaGandiaga
@LoreaGandiaga 2 жыл бұрын
One is condensed milk, one is evaporated. The condensed is way thicker and the evaporated is more of a liquid.

What coffee bean is he using? Any idea?

Could be anything but I've heard that the most common one they use is "pantai oliang powder mixed" it has a red and orange package. Apparently it tastes good because it's not just coffee, it has corn starch and some other things in it hence the word mixed. Also on a side note. That last milk he poured from the can, it's not condensed milk as the video captions, it's carnation evaporated milk. This video goes through the whole official recipe that they usually use. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5msk6GYgplrrJY
