Ranong is a lovely place as are the islands,it's worth going,I went 14 years ago but I haven't been back again but it's on my list to revisit.

As always, beautiful! How difficult is it for a non-Asian, non-Thai speaker in more remote places like Ranong? Well, always fun to start my week end, traveling with you!

Hi David, nowadays it is not difficult to travel around. For RANONG, you can fly there directly from Bangkok. You can stay in downtown or in the forest (like me). Many young entrepreneurs in RANONG now and they speak English. To travel around, we hire car and drive ourselves or we hire a van with driver. To tell them where to go, show these travel videos to them! :-)

Is the raintime in Ranong problem for nature experience ?

Jostein Not really. Ranong has rain in most time of the year. Actually, it is a good things because waterfalls and streams will be filled with fresh water. And, soaking yourself in a hot spring will be a great experience (esp. at Ponrung Hotspring). For island visits, it is possible. I would recommend Phayam Island :-)
