Between 2013 and 2015 the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) investigated reports of human trafficking, slavery and murder in Thailand's seafood industry.
EJF's investigation uncovered a sophisticated system of slavery and severe human rights abuses aboard “pirate” fishing vessels operating from the Thai fishing port of Kantang.
EJF is an international NGO working to defend our shared natural environment and human rights. We work to end illegal fishing and the associated human rights abuses, and shine a spotlight on the global problem of slavery at sea. ejfoundation.org/

I am also going to boycott any sea food from Thailand or from any American company buying seafood products from this country.

America has stopped buying seafood products from Thailand already. Now the EU will do the same if the Thai government won't do anything to fix this problem. I know Thailand is corrupt, but this one hit me to the max.

boycott does not really help solve the problem since the key to slavery is reducing the payment, it's more of raising awareness and pressuring the gov

The only thing in the world that will stop any of these unjust and destructive forces is sheer unadulterated violence and rage. Nothing will ever change and boycotting will do absolutely nothing besides make you selfishly feel better without doing anything to stop it. We need an army of psychopaths lead by empathetic leaders. Mass fucking murder and fear is the only thing that can get the world under control. We need a force for good that leads through fear. An army large enough and scary enough that just threatening them with the idea of them coming for you makes people stop. Georiga Guide stones spell it out pretty clear sans the violence part...lol.

AlJazeera English had an update on Faultlines today. While many slaves have been released, they did not get fair compensation. Unknown numbers remain on ships out of reach of enforcement. Well known brand names in human and pet food in the US, as well as popular grocery stores carrying them, are mentioned.

Al Jazeera who themselves have refused to investigate the indentured servitude and modern slavery in Qatar and other Gulf state like UAE. Maybe it because they're owned by the Qatari government. Don't trust modern media at all, they all have a motive and most are insidious!

Good journalism..its disgusting what they are doing. I hope things change for the people who are trapped in slavery and I hope people who see this stop eating thai seafood, its Americans who need to see this because they are the ones who buy and eat most of it.

... this is the Result of Predatory Capitalism, Corruption, Over Population, Unregulated Human Consumption, Human Trafficking and Exploitations...they all seem to go hand-in-hand, that's why you can't let a population Explode Out of control, you prevent that, by Educating the masses, and by giving them the resources to Fight these Dark Forces.

The main point is: When you consume seafood, you can’t know where and how this food was catch. No matter what’s on the label, if it’s says that it’s from thailand, china or united states, the true is that nobody really knows. They fake labels as well, “dolphin safe” this is all BS. A good documentary to understand the dimension of commercial fishing is ‘seaspiracy’ on netflix. If you really care about the ecosystem you shouldn’t eat fish at all. There is no such thing as “sustainable consume of fish” because we are in debt with the ocean already.

...all true, and we can thank Predatory Capitalists, the corporatocracy, Corruption, Corrupt Officials, Greed, Over consumption, Over Populations, and Perverted Religious Doctrines and Dogma... and pure and simple Human Stupidity. We are All Guilty of this, and we are All Responsible for this.

Just stop eating fish. The nice taste of it isn’t worth all these negative side affects of fishing. The gouvernment should finally take responsibility and take serious measures such as forbid eating fish. That would be so beneficial or begin with abondaning fish from restaurants. What is worth more, eating fish of seriously rescueing the planet and reduce human slavery at sea??? Foolish people we are.
