“Why didn’t you tell me the truth?” (Asking about the past) and “Why don’t you tell me the truth?” ( basically means “tell me the truth now”) these phrases have different connotations and mean slightly different things. The same goes for “why didn’t you go with Jane?” (Asking about the past) and “Why don’t you go with Jane?” ( offering a suggestion for the future). I’m assuming that the phrases in this video are asking why someone didn’t do something in the past. Right?
