Thaipusam 2021 in Singapore | RAW Camera Ep 38

A trip to Sri Thendayuthapani Temple for the annual Thaipusam Festival in Singapore. Due to the current circumstances, there was no foot procession for this year. This year's festival took place mainly in and around Sri Thendayuthapani Temple in Tank Road. Devotees were expected to follow strict measures put in place to ensure safety.
Thaipusam is a popular annual foot procession which is a sacred Tamil thanksgiving festival involving asceticism and control over one's senses. According to Tamil folklore, it is celebrated in honour of Lord Murugan (also known as Lord Subrahmanya), who represents virtue, youth and power, and is the destroyer of evil.

While the public event was so muted, the private prayers was ongoing in many homes. I am sure the energy generated in the individual homes will see spiritual growth for the families and the community. VetriVel!

Batu caves also closed for the public. They have to because the crowd is about one million. Very sad but for safety they they have to close. 🇲🇾

Still crowd inside the temple..y ppl never listen..too much bakti or showing off.
