I agree... what's the point of learning Roman script? You can't really just read it like English, you have to learn to read brand new (tones, vowels and consonants that aren't found in English), so why not use that effort to learn reading Thai?

How to tell the taxi to go straight forward?? Otherwise good video with useful phrases. Choke di na!
@pjkcards

When going back through and talking about what was said, it would be super helpful to have the Thai script instead of the Roman script (or both) - many don't have the Thai script which is annoying. It is such a bad habit to read the Roman script, and without the Thai script the lesson isn't as helpful as it could be, especially for me since I'm trying to learn to read as well. Thanks.

In the first sentence about 'Go to the market' you have written dta laat with a low tone over laat. Law ling is a low class consonant, the vowel is long aa and the final consonant is daw dow abrupt, or dead, so the tone of laat must be falling tone. A low class consonant cannot have a low tone. I know it is a minor detail .

The first scene is exactly what I experienced in Thailand...mainly in Bangkok. Constantly making sure they use the meter and bargaining prices with them. I leaned some Thai from KZbin videos and it did help when pronouncing avenue numbers for example (sukhumvit jet sip nuung). Traffic is insane but it flows.

Brilliant! My favourite lesson so far! Though I wish you stop using "alternative" spelling one day ;) (like มั้ย, I mean the lesson is definitely not for advanced learners, so colloquial words like this are puzzling)

Thank you for watching. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed my lesson. Hope you continue to follow my lessons in the future as well. :) As for the spelling of มั้ย mái , I personally feel awkward to write ไหม măi which doesn't match the actual pronunciation in spoken Thai. Sorry for making it puzzling.

Nice video. I get a little confused when i come across sentences like: 'kuen' taang duan mai ? duan เดือน which i guess means month and has very slight pronunciation difference from the duan in 'taang duan'. Another example คืน khewn and 'kuen' . It would be nice if you could explain these small differences from time to time. Thanks
@kaweejay
@kaweejay 7 жыл бұрын
ranvijay because the vowel -uan (duan=moon,month) doesn't exist in English and this sounds like you say 'der-aan'. (Er+aa) While 'duan' (quick,express,hurry) sounds like 'doo-waan' (oo+aa) Hope you can try master these vowels. And good luck!
