Gta V is actually terrifying in this aspect. The forest also induces this as you cant really move fast and knowing that it gets pitch black in the night hours adds to it. While some other people are afraid of underwater in games, I feel extremely comfortable, and this makes me love games that focus on eerie atmosphere of underwater. There is a game that gets really intense even for me, it's called Silent Hunter 3, it's a submarine simulator with high level of realism. When you've been spotted, and enemies are using sonar on you, bombing you with deep water bombs once you've got spotted, while the crew actually reacts to this. In usual mode they speak normal. In stealth mode they whisper, and in the heat of thr battle they scream orders. You can actually sit at the radar and hear the deep water noises(music stops here for obvious reason(you can also turn off the gramophone(you can also add your own songs in this game))). Sound effects are awesome in this game, especially with loud headphones. Truly immersive experience. There was also a German 6-episode(40 minutes each) movie called Das Boot(I think the game was at some point inspired by the movie), which is probably the most intense movie I have ever watched(I've watched many)

one that freaked me out is the witcher 3: wild hunt, in skellige, you can spot this huge tail of a whale while sailing and you can see it’s full body when you dive under water. that’s what freaked me out the most honestly, the fact that there was this huge creature in the water which you could never catch up to and it made you feel very very uneasy, i feel like it makes your mind wander to “what else is down here?” when you really think about it. i know there’s nothing else beneath the water but it’s more of a “what if” than anything
