Thamdara - a mountain village at Upper Sittong. It is said that Thamdara is the highest point of entire Sittong area. We stayed at 'Rai Niwas' Homestay. The homestay, nestled at the slope of a small tea garden, overlooks a beautiful landscape comprising of mountains, slopes and tea garden. On clear day snow capped Kanchanjungha range can be seen from the homestay.
We went in the 3rd week of January, when it was cold in the day and really chilly in the night. However, on winter trip teh special attraction was the Oranges of Sittong. The Orange orchards were full of Oranges.
As it was our 3rd trip to Sittong, we didn't avail any sight seeing tour this time. The tour was only to enjoy the nature of the mountains. However, we managed to visit Namthing Pokhri and the 350 years old Bddhist Monastery and a new view point, on the way.
The hospitality of the Nepali family who run the Rai Niwas Homestay, is of special mention.
Where to Stay: There are a number of Home Stays in the entire Sittong region. We stayed at 'Rai Niwas' Homestay at Thamdara.

Thamdara is located at Upper Sittong in Sittong III Block. It is around 55 km from NJP railway station.
It takes around 2.5 hrs to reach from NJP in hired Car.
