I really wish a skatepark can be built in my hometown. There's a massive heroin epidemic here and I've already lost multiple people from my highschool days to it. I believe the main problem being that there is nothing fun to do around here. I remember in my middle school days so many kids were into skateboarding, bmxing, even scootering. Many of them stopped over the years due to lack of places to ride. The only skatepark we had the was kind of near us was actually just torn down about 2 years ago. There was actually a conference sort of thing being held for our hometown once where they were getting ideas for what to do to make our town a better place for kids. Building a skatepark being one of them. And one person, an older lady, decided to stand up and go on a rampage saying how the type of kids that go to skateparks are thugs and she doesn't want low lives messing up the town. She said all of this while she saw me sitting there with my skateboard. I was a young kid in middle school at the time... It's really upsetting because we do have a park right in the middle of our small town that is actually pretty huge and there's a big chunk of the park that just has grass and nothing built on it, it's such a perfect area to put a skatepark but it still hasn't been done through all these years I've lived here.

We raised £250,000 but we technically got a “bigger” skatepark compared to one being built from scratch (for the same money) because they could use the foundations from the old park which saved costs.

I was our town would build a bigger park. We have a tiny concrete park on a pad that is only 25 % in use, the rest is just old asphalt where the original wooden ramps were. Every day the park is packed and everybody has to sit around and wait so you don’t get in another person way. Sad too cause there’s plenty of tax money around here, actually a ridiculous amount, yet the crooks don’t put it back where it belongs
