How I loved shows presented like this. No BS, just interesting info expertly described without hype or stupidity. Much missed. Plus I kind of fancied Judith Chalmers lol. Classy lady.

I was a teenager in June 1974 & we moved to Spain from the USA. No air conditioning found in Spain in those days. If we did find rare coffee beans (see 01:44 ), I sat in our kitchen, putting coffee beans between 2 papers towels & I used a jar to hammer them to pieces. ZERO crime rate, kids could roam freely. A society where males took good care of & were PROUD of their family. Unlike now, males in 1974 had no daily internet porn or easy access to illegal drugs....just their happy family life. Seems like I must've been on another planet, in Spain back in 1974.

Just had a look on Google maps. Totally abandoned. It certainly looked nicer and more modern nearly 50 years ago.

The villa is much more preferable to a crowded hotel . The couple looked abit miserable though !!

Those two would find holidaying on the Costas in this age "somewhat common".

Probably shy stiff upper lip old type Guessing they were middle class back then hence they chose the villa away from the crowd. The poor little kid just wanted to play about. He was full of energy and his dad got him locked in his arms LOL for the sake of an interview.

I thought the presenter was very rude to the first family. Interviewing them all the while teasing them deliberately on a hot day with a calippo ice lolly. I bet she even made them sleep in itchy blankets, you know the ones that are still there now 40yrs later top of the wardrobes.
@tonemc6047Ай бұрын
It wasn’t a Calippo lolly it was a 24 carrot dildo which was passed down through the generations of the Chalmers family .

Comments about coffee- tin enamel jugs and grinders in local shops. Still have mine and use them. Comment about those crime free days - fascist police with funny hats greatly feared. Always looking out for drugs smuggling from morocco. Remember that film?
