Returning home each night to this friendly and familiar piece of Britain, thats a good description of Judith Chalmers.

Met Danny La Rue twice in the late 90's. he told me he was still working, very nice person, polite, happy for a few seconds of chit chat. I recognised him straight away.

I remember the bills and the bar staff said much of the time they were too busy to check names/signatures and 'You wouldn't believe the amount of Mickey Mouses and Donald Ducks leaving big bar bills'.😂

I cannot emphasize enough how lucky travellers are today compared to years gone by. I was in my twenties when this show was aired and if I did not catch it "live" on the night I probably missed out. Us travellers back then relied on books like Lonely Planet to advise on on the best place to stay on our global adventures. Nowadays there is so much available via social media that if you do your research it's really impossible to go wrong.

It takes all the adventure out of it though.

Danny La Rue seems like such a nice person. A real old school entertainer.

It’s hard to believe that that was considered to be supremely luxurious

I've never been on a cruise so this still looks quite luxurious to me.

As an Aussie, it was quite a sight to see ships like this, "parked" between The Bridge and the Opera House, in Sydney. You could see them on your day to day commute, passing through Circular Quay railway station. They look a bit lonely, without the ships, in my opinion.
