Yes and no, they romanticized a very specific style of relationship between a youth (mid teens to early 20s) and an older mentor (mid 20s to maybe early 30s) a homosexual relationship outside of this framework, say between two adult men would have been significantly frowned upon. I think it’s actually kind of interesting, how being a gay man was treated by ancient Romans. Or, how Wikipedia _says_ it was treated at least. Despite many comments here, it wasn’t simply “they were cool with gay relationships”. An (unmarried) man could have sex with a woman or a young man without harming his social status, but only if they were slaves or prostitutes, and only if he was the one “Giving”, to be chaste. It was considered shameful, unmanly, and could seriously damage your social standing to “take the spear” so to speak if you were an male, non-prostitute citizen.

Yep, being a bottom was not well regarded for this fact exactly as it was a role pinned to slaves. It was also quite sexist, as greeks regarded the "passive" person as feminine, young (childish) and submissive regardless of gender.
