Thank you for this! I love when people realise that science and spirituality are but two sides of the same coin. And can speak eloquently about this to boot (-: I also find it interesting that Bertrand attributes his interest in spirituality and psychology solely to his mother, because the iconic Star Trek TNT character Jean-Luc Picard, based on his grandfather Auguste and grand uncle Jean, is a pretty spiritual man of science. This could, of course, simply be a case of artistic license, but Jean's American wife Jeannette, also a high-altitude balloonist, became one of the first women to be ordained priests in the US. This is to say that there was also a strong science-spirituality combo in that generation of this family, even if not necessarily among the men. But you gotta wonder if they just didn't speak about this as openly.

Thank you for this interview. B. Piccard is usually known for other aspects of his life, at least in the French speaking part of Switzerland

Absolutely amazing.. it all makes so much sense.. thank you Thanatos. Merci M. Picard pour votre analyse de la connection d’espiritualié avec la science, Elle a besoins de s’attraper et adopter la vaste domaine de ‘consciousness’. Very interesting discussion, thanks again.

Another great interview!... I'd love to hear more from Dr. Piccard about experiencing the transcendent in daily life....I wonder if he meditates, or has certain methods for being more "present"?

I have always thought that as well. I feel therefore I am. Or even deeper. I am that I am. A beingness that I share with the Divine since I am an aspect of that.

Absolutely agree in knowing that spiritually is from God and religions are the invention of man. We can be very close to God and know true love in spirit, without any religious affiliation whatsoever.

I believe that it is the misinterpretation of the Religion that divides , the true essence of Religion is Love is Spiritual . No matter if it is a God or a God force managing the Universe .

“I think, therefore I am” is NOT a cornerstone of western philosophy. Descarte’s statement has always been controversial-and he came too late to be foundational (that would be the Greek philosophers and their Latin interpreters and the medieval theology that expressed these ideas through Judro-Christian forms). I tire of endlessly contradicting those who don’t see that religion and spirituality are NOT. DIFFERENT. They are the same thing. Religion, or religio, simply means the rules (as dogma means ‘teaching’) that cause spiritual truths to flourish. YES they can be twisted and misused-but that doesn’t mean they are no good, or useless! Quite the contrary --every spirituality is INSTANTIATED in a FORM. And THAT, is religion. Properly understood it does NOT divide, it causes human knowing and flourishing. There is no spirituality without form.
