He joined Criminalz in 2010 but he was already part of Poppin' Brothers with Rochka and Deyvron in 2008. The earliest battle you can see on youtube is in 2010, and he was 15 at the time. Dude stopped appearing in events after Juste Debout 19, and he was 24 then. 👍

YOU SAID IT! And just before Waydi left the scene, I think he was at his peak where he was truly free within his movement... sorta like the place in his dance where Laurent is in his dance currently. I love seeing dancers in that space where they are in full control, comfortable and free...truly is an experience to take it in

Waydi used to be one of my favorite dancers, maybe my favorite when it comes to battling. He was killing it every time in battles, especalliy his musicallity was untouched. Also many of his judge demos made me scream after rewatching them over and over again like the one "in da circle" . He carried me a long time through my dance journey. He Inspired me so much and i hope that maybe he will come back to dance some day, otherwise it would be a wasted talent. Man was so gifted I wish him all the best.

Somehow waydi has become the dancer I’ve resonated the most with, despite him being my least watched dancer. i swear when i first discovered him it felt like i found the future me, like discovering the mysticism and wonder i want to give off when i dance. it was presented in waydi. that’s why i was honestly heart broken when i discovered he doesn’t dance publicly anymore. I refuse to believe that someone like him could just stop dancing i know wherever he is even tho he isn’t putting it out publicly i know hes still dancing

There’s a couple videos where he describes his approach to dance and on god it’s all attitudes and concepts. He reached the level where he doesn’t think in moves and counts, he thinks in storytelling with his movement. Like he starts one “choreo” breakdown video talking about how the starting position he chose and the track gave him puppet vibes and so he rises up like a puppet with strings and then into the next thing the track is telling him to do. Like it’s just him letting the music speak through what he feels on the beat. It’s mind blowing no cap - Darkwing Duckboi

Yess ! Waydi is like a pray or sort of hip-hop's spirit that everyone wish for and respect. I don't know, man...It's beautiful to watch what he does and the way that he submit and deliver it all. He brings time's respect and especially respect to the effect and space that music has in his body. It's just wonderful and so nice to watch (your reaction and the compilation of his rounds got me a little emotional).

I've read where he stopped competing to focus on University and get his degree - very understandable because you can't necessarily dance forever. I also feel like while he did indeed leave the space for school, he was extremely burnt out on dance. The last few big competitions he was part of - the videos I watched at least) - he was exhausted from those extended rounds at Summer Dance (which he could've arguably won two years in a row). I can imagine it being very tough putting so much effort and time into something and not getting the results desired.

Going through the era of Waydi was just so insane. His skill and dance style was just so unique. When Waydi picked up litefeet? My god he turned into a beast. I heard he left because of school, but also heard he stopped dancing because of his religion and said people treated him like a "God" and that feeling for him was a no-no. Either way, all his videos I still watch and just seeing his progression from earlier days in Criminalz with speedylegs, diablo, etc. just makes you humble af.

I have been waiting for a live stream, but I want to go ahead and ask you, there may not be an answer but it doesn't hurt to ask I guess. What should I do to start getting into the scene? I have been practicing 14 years+, I have made a few videos that got high traffic for a channel just starting out, the views never died down, but I am not a big fan of making videos, should I tough it up and start again or do something else. It is killing me never getting to go to any events, battle my self, session with other. My area is dry of dancers for like 150miles+ I am the only light around here on it lol. I have people all the time asking if I can teach their children but I don't feel comfortable as a male teaching anyone under 18 due to exploitations with parents getting angry and claiming stuff, so I never tried... I just need some insight if you have any its driving me crazy lol.

There are probably lots of dancers out there around the world in similar situations as you. They want to be a part of the community, but they live somewhere remote, etc. Theres a few options, a few things to think about: 1). Maybe you're meant to build and create a new community from scratch? 2) You could move to somewhere with a big dance scene. Its a big risk, but if you really want it, you should take that chance and go somewhere you feel called to, somewhere where you know there will be lots of dancers and a great scene. 3) OR...maybe you build something (youtube channel, blog, etc) thats all about helping dancers in similar situations...how to maintain training when you don't have a crew or community, how to grow, how to teach yourself, how to discipline yourself...that way, you are turning what you think is your 'weakness' or something shitty, into the very thing that actually helps define you, your personal brand, and now that thing you felt annoyed about turns into a 'strength'

i think in the beginning some would criticize his movements being to small, but later u notice he definitely fixed that so.. now can't nobody say shit.. i mean i don't know how big a roll big power moves or acrobatics.. but like bboying all you need is how to use the fundamental steps to dance, and how to use them to actually dance to the music..is more important than impressive tricks.. but i love tricks tho.. but they actually have battles for that, in fact they dont even need music really but it's there.

A lot of good/talented dancers quit especially if they’re not getting the results in exchange from effort they’re putting in and end up placing that time and effort into other areas. If he was getting commercial gigs he would probably still be dancing but since he isn’t and is only prominent in the battle scene (and ain’t nobody living off prize money form these events) then yes good idea to go back to school.
