I’m a child development specialist here who has been in the field for almost 30 yrs. I think you have some excellent friends and family who gave you great advice. It’s good to read and prepare….it shows you care and want to do a good job, but ultimately there will never be another baby like yours growing up in exactly your situation. From watching you both interact with people and kids on this platform and on TV, I can tell you that you have 100% of the ingredients to be excellent parents. Some of the top ones are a sense of humour, being able to laugh at yourselves, resourcefulness, and a playful attitude. You’ve got this, you’ll do great……and there will be times you mess up entirely but being able to grow from it is all that matters. ❤️

My advice DO NOT take anything for granted it's been 9 years since my husband passed away and my children and I have a really hard time every day but as you can imagine it is extremely hard say I love you every day and show it and be in the moment.

I really think most new moms your motherly instinct takes over and you just take care of the baby. I had my son at 17 yrs old. It just came to me how to take care of him. I was a little nervous at first, but it became very easy.

Parent Educator here. Please let your heart tell you what to do. I know the "experts" and "the books" (even mine) ask you to do this and that. What's important to remember that you're learning too. You are learning things about yourself and each other right along side with the baby. The heart connection you have with each other made this wee one; that means the sweet one will let you know, deep inside your soul, what they need. Trust those impulses and the rest will follow. Know that if you need the "experts" we're all here. AND, if you disagree with what we or the books say, that's okay, throw the advice away! You and Linda are the experts here. Nurse here and mom of 2 boys who are 7 & 27. There’s only so much prepping that you can do. Just learn the appropriate safety measures to keep your baby safe, learn infant and child CPR, but exactly what you guys said, your baby won’t conform to all of the books you read. Milestones are an indicator of proper growth and identifying if there are any type of delays to be concerned about, but often times people get so competitive with those milestones and tell you what your baby should be doing. Your instincts will kick in. Good parents prioritize safety and love and along with that comes teaching and wanting your child to be a good person. You guys will do great, just enjoy each moment for what it is and understand that it goes by in the blink of an eye, so just savor it!! 💗💗

Key things that should never go out the window. 1) always remember your child will immulate what they see( how you communicate, resolve conflicts and express love) 2) You will get what you invest. Make traditions like (Daddy child dates, mommy child dates) start it when the baby comes home. Each of you set a time that come hell or high water you won't cancel that time. This will build that trust and relationship for your lifetime 3) Make your mistakes, its important for you to find what works for your home. 4) Enjoy the ride, the good and the bad. It will go by in the blink of an eye and you don't want to miss a thing! Congratulations!!

As a recent subscriber to your channel, I will firstly wish you both a very Happy New Year. As a two-daughter father, 38 and 37 years ago and now a four grandchild grandparent, I have a little earned experience that I might pass on. The hardest time for me as a new father, was in the first six-months or so. Everything was so new. And I didn't cope nearly as well as I should have. All the result of worry and a lack of confidence in myself as a parent. The next six-months by comparison were a breeze. And by the time baby number two came along, I considered myself an expert. All this while acknowledging the my dear wife did about 99% of the daily and nightly hard work. So, if there's anything you can do, no matter how small to lighten her burden - do so. Take all the help that is offered, find a way to get some sleep. Be patient with each other and most importantly support your wife in any way she needs. She'll have been through a lot more than you. Finally, buy a good set of ear-plugs. Sometimes they just cry - for no reason despite everything you do to sooth them. Lot's of love for each other, a great family support system and a paediatrician you trust, will make the whole experience a wonderfully positive one. Love and best wishes for the next months from Canada.

My dear friend who is a therapist told us that in the first year of life a baby cannot be spoiled because he will not remember it. But they will feel the love and the nurturing you give him. So don’t be afraid and love him hug him and kiss him enjoy every second with him. If he has a pacifier get rid of it. He will cry only one night and then he will forget about it. don't worry about books, etc it goes right out the window. As a mom of three beautiful children I learned to rest when they do (you won't get much sleep for a few months) have the baby in a bassinet next to the bed for easy feedings (esp if breastfeeding), listen to your body, and your own instincts (people will always think they know best on how to raise YOUR child) and BREATHE!!! CONGRATULATIONS again!!!!!

That's, right forget the books, enjoy ye break and rest, it's only natural to be both happy and a little anxious, expecting your 1st baby, but with the birth of your baby, comes the best most practical, wisdom tool ever, it's called, "instinct", God given for parents to love and care and know when things are not going right with thus little miracle he is trusting u with, for a number of years, ya we only get a loan of them, my mom always said to us, her children, when we had our own, "enjoy your children while they are small and young, we only get a loan of them, untill they fly the nest, to make their own, she was right , I can remember, like it was yesterday, bring our 1st baby home, she is now 37 and has 5 of her own , you two will be great, all ye need is love and ye have tons of it 🙏🙏🙏☘️🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪☘️

Hello, when I saw that y’all have a KZbin channel, I was absolutely delighted. When I learned you were having a baby was icing on the cake. Now, to the parenting tip. My very best one is for when your sweet little one is crying and you have done everything you can to find the problem. It’s most likely a tummy ache. The absolute best thing to do is warm up a receiving blanket for about 10 seconds in the microwave and put it on the belly. Check it first to make sure it’s not too warm, but that trick is like magic. I know you two will make wonderful parents and your wee one will be so blessed.
