@@bugsy742 hehe thanks, i suffered for that one, i had to wait almost an hour for the place to close and all the staff to leave, and remember i use reelsteady and gyroflow, though i rarely use more than 10% smoothing its still a big help, its nice to know one twitch wont completely spoil a shot, which strangely lets me relax and twitch less anyway hehehe

@@TheMadmacs how hard is it to use gyroflow bud? I’ve just got my 2nd Caddx Walnut ( 1st one was unworkable 😞 ) and it needs gyroflow, I’ve watched a few videos but at the moment I feel a tad overwhelmed by it all! 😮😅
@TheMadmacs Жыл бұрын
@@bugsy742 ah you probably watched old vids or super high troubleshooting vids, its fully user friendly now, just load the vid, begin typing in the name of your camera into lens profile and it will give you a list to choose from, ie: caddx walnut 4k 16-9 or 4-3 etc etc. then if the auto sync shows you some red sync points delete them and maybe crop video to the bit you want... (just to avoid the shaky footage before and after take off) then run auto sync again, dont be scared to add as many sync points as it takes to get the footage smooth, remember to select output resolution and also start off with 10% or whatever smoothing to see how much you need, or want. thats it, maybe also export to h265 hevc... its not super fast but its ok.

Thank you Madmacs, for sharing all your great flights and especially in this last year, much more personality and "B-roll" that really makes you one of a kind! You created and found your own spot in the FPV world. I am really thankful for you keeping up the great artwork! These incredible landscapes, the small happenings around your flight spots... Watching your vides is always a little adventure in itself. And this video here shows it all: Your great progress in editing, the feel for a good cutwork, the dynamics suited with the music, you flying skills.. -I still remember some long time ago we chatted about your thumb making it hard to keep the quad calm in a dive, and I suggested to bump up the I - term in Betaflight (if i remember this right) or even to make the gimbal sticks longer... I know there is new technique helping too, but your framework has become excellent as well! Just thank you for keeping it up all the time, investing all the energy into our hobby. Always inspiring me not to give up, because flying and the freedom in our minds is what it's all about! I wish you many more happy ending flights in 2023! And may the power and energy for all your adventures always be there for you! 🙂

thankyou so much, i really try to make pure cinematic flying vids, but it almost never works. so, to make it more fun i include the story and b-roll, my editing is getting a little better, my pc won't play 4k files in an editor especially when i start grading and cross dissolves , and finding files over my farcical 8 hard drive set up is days long hunt hehehe. i'm still flying a very twitchy quad set up, i think i'd find it hard to fly something genuinely cinematicly well behaved, that twitch saves my quad a lot, trees and dogs and wires..... i need dead stop as an option hehehehe. it is a problem though, if i am even slightly nervous, it comes through on the sticks, so i have to be full jedi zen to fly, which isnt really a bad thing. i still feel as excited to fly now as i did on my first fpv attempts, i genuinely dont understand why everybody isn't doing this. i can fly. thanks for your kind words and support,

@@TheMadmacs Most video cutting software has a "proxy mode" Here is copypaste from the Davinci Resolve manual: 1. Proxy Mode Start out by checking if the Proxy mode is turned on. The somewhat misleadingly named Proxy mode actually has nothing to do with proxy files or offline editing. This function simply allows the user to downscale the resolution of the played clip in real time. Simply navigate to Playback > Timeline Proxy Mode and choose the desired setting. The playback can be scaled down to half resolution, quarter resolution or turned off. With this mode you work on a 4k file that is downgraded only in the editor ;-) And I don't understand myself. FPV is such a gift, and I barely fly in the last 2 years. Been a hard time for me, biig lack of energy. But I still got all my stuff here, even sometimes my palms feel like burning to touch it all again, setup new quads, live the passion. Crazy. But the airtime will be back and wonderful.
@TheMadmacs2 жыл бұрын
@@WildpixFPV yes i had a go at proxy files in davinci, but its a lot of files and it was never clear where the files were going lol, think it told me to make a folder and name it, then it made a folder named it and placed it in the middle of nowhere in some hard to find program folder. i use ''generate optimized media now just to get it to play, but it still can't handle too much fiddling, neither could proxies. my computer is over 10 years old lololol. yeah its hard to keep the energy going, i always miss really great days to fly, then feel bad about it, which doesnt help. all you can do is wait for the notion to get in motion hehehe. its such a difficult hobby to sustain all the moving parts for that 3 or 4 minutes of bliss when it all goes right..... the vid with the castle shots in this one (strangely i didnt use in a vid during the year!?!) that adventure was a nightmare, the journey was a 9 hour one, train into city, then train up north, then a 2 mile walk to the little ferry, then a 4 mile walk to the castle camp spot. it did not go this smoothly, firstly my second train got cancelled, leaving me outside the city and needing to get a train back into the city to a different station, then walk to the northbound station to catch a later train, ok, i'm a couple of hours behind. then i reach the trains destination and realise, i forgot my coffee press, hunted around the small town of Oban for an hour or so till i found one. then the 2 mile walk to the little ferry and the 4 mile walk on the island to the castle, all while carrying 25kg or more. the video is me setting up tent and flying immediately, first minute or so was good stuff, then concentration and focus fell apart, i flew 3 more packs in increasingly beautiful light, all just garbage hehehehe. i was so exhausted. a tough 9 hour journey turned into a 14 hour marathon, i knew i was too tired and came home the next day hehehe.
@WildpixFPV2 жыл бұрын
@@TheMadmacs Wow, this is amazing. What an insight behind the scenes! In my current state of "notion of any motion", I would have went straight back home at the moment that first train got cancelled! Hahahaa..! I know you are even some small years older than me, so all hats off and thanks for the encouraging words! I haven't made any new years resolutions in a long time, but this time I will visualize that glimpse of motion get down into my bones!! Oh, and I am sure you just need a new PC.. Didn't know the proxy mode settings are so fiddly in davinci. I use Adobe Premiere but no experience in proxy settings there, no edits in ages..Before I had a Mac with Final Cut Pro X .. that was just soo easy, fluid working on it. For the start, a PC is not very cheap but it will make it all much easier. Maybe you can even find a good youtube tutorial about the proxy workflow? Good luck, looking forward to your great upcoming videos! :)

hehe thanks, the big screen is so mucch better, i try to watch my vids on my phone when i'm at a coffee shop to make sure it still sorta works and get ideas for that size of screen but, i'm just never sure it works. dji goggles actually allow you to put up a frame inside the image, kinda safe zone, so you can frame things better but i've never used it, i just try and guess how much frame i'll lose with stabilization and cropping, not ideal. heres to 2023, and more little adventures

hehehe thanks, that clip and the one before didnt actually make it into a vid, it was a long day to get there and cancelled trains and about 3 extra miles on my walk with cancelled trains and stuff, so 7 mile walk with 60lbs of gear, was horrific. sso i got there set up tent and flew immediately, those two shots were all i got, went home the next day absolutely ill with exhaustion. the music on this i had to patch and repeat, i think too much. some of the music from this year on the original vids is really nice, i've been told watching my vids in a row is very nice for going to sleep, but you should just make a playlist of last years vids based on the music. its my intention to make pure flight vids, but i often end up doing the vloggy stuff to pad out some less than stellar flying or weather.

@@bugsy742 yeah i should mention, google earth pro has a free flight sim, i scout a lot of places on that. you can gauge sunlight and stuff to figure out if you need to camp there for the best light etc, and i watch a lot of hiking vids and get info on spots so i get a lot of tips, like where climbers might be and how tough the hikes are. i've even had hikers like stripey hat guy use my vids to plan a hike over the witches step on the isle of arran which is cool. its funny, the day the first lockdowns ended i was on a boat to the isle of arran, with my cheapo runcam and my eachine vtx and box goggles, had the island to myself, cars were slowing down and looking at me like i was an white stag.... i set up camp, and stupidly thought i'd do the 8 mile hike and get a feel for the witches step. it was cloudy and about to rain, but i ccouldnt sit still, i thought i'd fly a few packs and then come back the next morning. i take off, get half way up and get a bit scared i turn around to get a bearing and lose video, panicked and switch into turtle mode instead of angle mode and crash halfway up the mountain. i ran about a half mile and 750feet up and found my quad laying undamaged on a clump of heather. got soaked from head to toe on the way back, and next day my nerves were totally shot, could not fly number two quad to save myself. had to abandon it, came home with boots still wet after 3 days... i made a vid, but within weeks i was back and man oh man, i just went for it. the next year 2021 i went back with gopros and new quads and dji v2 goggles, just jaw dropping flying
