Even in costume, he's got his painted nails and goofy mannerisms. It's the whole, "I don't care" thing. Him eating cake the whole time was distracting as fuck.

I get some of your criticisms but the nail polish one is just what? It doesn't harm the skit and he shouldn't have to remove his nail polish then repaint every week. Though honestly, I've never gotten "I don't care" vibes from him.

I think he was just way too high and when he fudged getting cake to mouth in his first scene he panicked and thought he could make a bit out of shoveling all the cake in his mouth. I dunno whether I'd give him credit for being funny... it was just that he automatically started snickering at the exact kind of joke you'd expect him to find funny while still pounding down the mustard cake. For some reason that made me laugh. It was a good enough sketch before that, too. I think they keep Pete around more as a prop than a comedian.
