electrolyte tabs work well during your ride as well to prevent cramp Good work out.. keep going every week

Indeed....I will buy a few packs for the next ride. But the pre-carbo load with the banana and sammich have been life-savers. I need to stop doing a hardcore weight-training gym day the night before though, but I never learn my lesson. Thanks for the comment!

@@doctor-d-rose69dude how the heck do you have a madone and not ride on the street. That can't be true. That madone is super sweet looking tho.
@doctor-d-rose6910 күн бұрын
@scottf3456 I don't take it on the street with regular traffic, cars, traffic lights, etc. I stay on the trails/paseos. Although there are a few instances I have to cross the street to get to the trails. I'm not comfortable or confident enough to ride with cars...not yet.
@scottf345610 күн бұрын
@@doctor-d-rose69 fair enough, go at your pace. You'll get there. Maybe put the bike in the car and find some back roads.
@stefanmuehl67129 күн бұрын
@@doctor-d-rose69 Makes sense. You will get more comfortable over time. If you decide to ride on the streets at some point, join group rides.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! You did a great job on this video and I love your relentless effort and being a hard charger! I would really love to see a comparison of the 2 bikes by riding the same wattage on the same route and see what the time is. That is the only true way to show which is the faster bike. Sometimes a bike will feel faster but actually isn't. Thanks again for the great video!
@doctor-d-rose6910 күн бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I actually thought about that, and perhaps one day soon, I'll be advanced enough to do that kind of video. In the meantime, I'm simply using my Samsung Android phone, the cheapest GoPro, and a $30 wired mike, lol. But just from the feel alone, the Madone is faster and more responsive on the climbs. The Tarmac is the better performer as an all-around road bike. I also feel that the road tires on the Tarmac make it more versatile in all road conditions compared to the race tires I have on the Madone. The Madone also feels lighter. The new seat on the Tarmac is amazing as well. But again, love both bikes and if a potential buyer is torn, they should just go with the color that they like better.

I used to cramp really bad as well, I know it sounds crazy but eat some salt like the night before and before a ride. Like 3 grams
@doctor-d-rose693 күн бұрын
@geewoowajeel7295 I believe you. For these longer rides I'm bringing more electrolyte type drinks and snacks.

@ you a big guy, what got you into cycling.
@doctor-d-rose693 күн бұрын
@geewoowajeel7295 needed to try different forms of cardio. I've done it all with the running outside and treadmill inside and most recently, power incline walking outside. Visited my LBS one day and it went from there. Now I'm hooked. I still favor the love the weight training routine over anything though. But true answer to your question is that cycling burns the most calories out of all the cardio 🤩
@geewoowajeel72953 күн бұрын
@ you should also do a FTp test and track your journey. I’m sure people would be interested in that. Espically the buff bike community

Nice videos…have you gotten a legit fit for each of those bikes yet and not the ones where they adjust right before you take it home type of bike fit.
@doctor-d-rose696 күн бұрын
@smauller623 Not an official $300 and higher bike fit. But thinking about it one day when I become more serious or think about doing longer rides more frequently. My body is already pretty destroyed from the military and I'm thinking their desired ergos to match my body won't be aligned with how destroyed my body is already. I tend to go off feel and being super OCD all my life, I adjust everything myself to perfection. If I were to get an official fit, it would be on the Tarmac because I consider that my long distance endurance rider. Then I'd just match the Madone to it on feel 😛

nice video! I'm curious, which city is this? I find the views + bike path setup absolutely stunning.
@doctor-d-rose6910 күн бұрын
Santa Clarita/Valencia. Next to 6 Flags Magic Mountain. Come through, there's plenty of places to park and then take your bike out for the loop. I've yet to explore every single pathway, but the one I take is about 37-40 miles. You don't have to ride on the street with traffic at all. Thanks for the comment!

You said the Tarmac is more comfortable. Naah, I have ridden both SL8 and Madone with the same saddle. The Madone is more comfortable.
@doctor-d-rose699 күн бұрын
@ekm3820 I felt that same way after a few rides but the more I ride them equally, I feel the Tarmac is slightly more comfortable. But I credit the saddle and road tires. Madone definitely smooth like silk
