This is why humans need to take care of animals, and make time to be present in the moment with animals and each other

haha this is such an interesting concept. this seems like it would be a good idea for those who have recently lost a pet and may be missing the feel of their pet; especially older folks who live alone and are used to sleeping with a pet by their side.

This is so interesting! I really love robotic, interactive things and really do enjoy your videos and your focus on them. I've read about this one, but honestly couldn't imagine what it would be like until now. I watch everything but rarely comment... Now I'm going to be bold and ask if you would consider a video request. Would you consider doing a video about robotic things, toys or actual therapeutic things like this little cuddly critter, that might be ideal for different kinds of needs? The past year has been hard on many, many people. So many have ended up isolated and alone. As for myself and my own interest, I've found myself in a position of spending most of every day alone with little to fill the time with unless I search for things, which I do. But depression has often gotten the better of my desire to do anything meaningful, and I just long for company. I've often thought about the first-generation Furbys I had as a little girl, the perfect combination of a pet and a baby, and how real they were to me. I've tried doing my own research on robotic things that simulate a pet or a companion, but so many of the best ones aren't all that affordable, and the abundance of things that are midrange in price is just baffling. For myself, I'm also looking for something that doesn't rely heavily on visual elements because I'm blind, but other people might really benefit from a robotic pet with LED eyes or some kind of screen, ETC. I just think it would be interesting to hear from someone with your level of experience with this stuff. Thank you for reading and considering, even if you decide not to tackle the idea. I'd also be interested to know whether you think interactive robots have gotten better or declined since the big boom in the late 90s and early 2000s that began with Furby and rapidly expanded to all kinds of things. My personal favorites that I've owned have been the first gen Furbys and Furby Babies, Hasbro's My Real Baby that came out in 2000, and the first cat released by Fur Real Friends that had all the classic cat behaviors. The Joy for All pup is a great thing too. I got one for my grandparents, and he's been great company for my grandmother since my grandfather's passing.

Hi! I am not thanks to Caleb Chung, but I collect interactive robots as well. Also, I am totally blind. Our experiences sound very similar. I haven’t been alone, but this whole Covid thing has messed up the way I normally interact with things around me since-especially in stores-products cannot be touched. I feel like I’m in some kind of… Latex skin and everybody and everything is moving around in this external sphere. It’s like you can interact with people, but you aren’t truly with them? I don’t know how to explain it. I’m sure you know what I’m saying. Anyway, you asked a very interesting question about whether interactive robots have declined since the 90s or gotten better. The answer to that (at least for me) is twofold. On the one hand, the complexity of the interactivity between the Robot and it’s handler/owner has gotten much more complex than a simple canned response or reaction. On the other, a lot of that interactivity is achieved by using an app on a smart phone or tablet. These apps or often, but not always inaccessible when one has to depend on assistive tech nology like voiceover or talk back or jaws. Lately, some of these robots have been utilizing a connection with smart speakers like Alexa or the Google home devices. But there is even a problem with those because you have to instruct either device to “tell the robot-whatever its name is- to bow or laugh or say hello” or whatever. you might as well have a puppet that you control with your voice.Which totally messes up the attempt at a real life interaction. Sorry for the essay KZbin. I will hush now.

At first I thought this was like a roomba type vaccuum but therapeutic xD They're very sweet, I think I'd want to add some ears or something, I think a little nose could be very cute. I actually have a plushie from Japan I bought years ago that is intended to help with sleep and it has a little removable thing inside that has a heartbeat and I think it works similiarly to haptic feedback or the like on a phone or console controller onlt set up like a heartbeat. The one I had even slowed down gradually since that is also soothing.
