I think Darkseid often toys with the people he fights. He knows he's superior, but probably uses the fights for his own amusement since he's already conquered many worlds. It's like self training to stay focused. But when he's had enough, he's had enough. Although, I expected more reality warping.

As much as I liked Thanos, Darkseid is the top terrifying villain; Thanos wanted to erase half the universe's life either for love (in Comics) or by ethics (Movie); meanwhile, Darkseid knows he is the villain and wants the universe to BE enslaved by him. "in his universe" and that's where Thanos falls down, darkseid not only exists in the multiverse but has avatars of himself in multiple so you can't really be certain you've killed the real one. With the infinity stones Thanos would win, however if both have their weapons (infinity stones and anti life equation) then darkseid automatically wins. The whole point of the equation is to rule all sentient life by a simple actuation of one's will. In other words Thanos wouldn't even be able to think about the action of clicking his fingers, he'd become a mindless servant to darkseid.

Killing half the beings in the universe was her idea. She is Death, as in she is the literal personified force of entropy in the Universe and is one of the most powerful of cosmic beings. It sucked that she wasn't in the movies, or even Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, and the rest for that matter.

You even said that your true version of dark side can't leave his home or dimension or Jim Morrison's mind without destroying the multiverse so Thanos would be battling the darkseid that we all know as this other all encompassing one is just hyperbole finally making an appearance falling through the multiverse in final crisis. When discuss Thor, is it rune King Thor or standard thor. When we talk about Superman, do we talk about Superman prime 1 million or cosmic armor Superman or just Clark Kent Superman. Sure these others exist just like your true form darkside, but when we discuss these characters, unless otherwise specified, we're discussing there standard characters.
