But also, it's very hard to top some of Oppenheimer's bars, as many of them are pretty clever. "You might be something in the MCU but between us, who's the worst MC? You", "You wanna talk about death? How about the one who looked at you and swiped left", "You were born to Eternals, But came out looking so scary, That your own mother tried to make you a temporary" But the best bar of all is "I'm here to split U like 2 and 3 from 5". Squirrel Girl is a lower-tier Marvel character whose powers are like a squirrel’s, she can command an army of squirrels, and her ultimate power is that she can’t lose a fight, she’s literally unbeatable. She was able to vanquish Thanos by herself with a bunch of squirrels in a story from the comics. This is another reference to the famous quote, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." Squirrel Girl is a Marvel comics superheroine who is portrayed as being inexplicably able to beat some of the most powerful people in the universe, including Thanos, despite her comparatively silly powers derived from squirrels - so much so that she managed to defeat the entirety of the Marvel universe in a comic titled The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe. This is also a play on words, as squirrels are animals known to eat nuts, though to "get your nuts handed to you" also means to be defeated.

With Squirrel Girl there's also the point that Deadpool, the *literally genre-aware lunatic* and 4th-wall-gag-machine, considers her to be the single most powerful being in existence. He sees past the conceits of the Marvel Universe and understands that she has spaceship-grade plot armour... so actually using the fact that she beat Thanos at one point might not be quite as strong of a blow on a second consideration; "Well I mean OF COURSE that happened. The writers simply will not let this chick lose, ever." That said I'm still with the general consensus. Oppenheimer was chilling and decisively brutal throughout. Nothing Thanos had seemed to stick, our bad Terran boy had an immediate answer for anything that looked like it *might* stick and at the end of the day he was just so casually dismissive of Thanos' efforts that even if it IS lyrically close (arguable cringe aside) Oppenheimer's beat and delivery puts him over the top for me.

A big, BIG favorite of mine from ERB's library, and it has one of the most devastating lines in the whole discography. "You were born to Eternals, but you came out looking so scary, that your own mother, tried to make you a *Temporary*." The meat of it is Thanos' Mom was so scared of him that she tried to end him just after she'd given birth to him. That is some traumatic-level stuff right there, but the icing on the cake (the sauce on the steak?) is the sublime wordplay of taking the term Eternal and applying its usage as a title or race to one of its antonyms. That for me is the line that burns Thanos to the ground. It doesn't matter what else Thanos came at him with. Oppenheimer could've said nothing but that one line and Thanos could've written a whole thesis on how Oppenheimer sucks, but he'd still lose to that truly nuclear line. Oh Snap indeed.
@jcar123213 жыл бұрын
Really surprised that you gave it to Thanos in such a one sided fashion. Maybe you just personally dont like Oppenheimer (The real life version) for your own reasons? Thanos had some really cheesy lines and his cadence and flow was not good. I thought Oppenheimer was leaps and bounds better in every category. Cadence, Flow, punchlines, consistency. It seems most, even in just this comment section would agree. But to each their own, right. Sometimes people just see things through a diffrent lense, even if it's not widely agreed with. Keep doing you, brother.

This also happened to a lot of scientists in the US post WWII. The rampant anti communist Mccarthy era benched them when they spoke out in favor of peace and particularly against nuclear weapons, which apparently was a communist idea? It was a ridiculous witch hunt that caught very few spies and punished a whole bunch of innocent people. And the only reason I know such a detailed history thing is because my boy Linus Pauling got robbed. He got labeled a communist and got his ass put on the no-fly fast at a time when scientists were starting to unravel the mysteries of DNA. His work using xrays to examine crystalline structures left him well equipped to guess at the structure of DNA. Unable to attend an international conference where scientists pooled their research, he put forth the theory that the structure was an Alpha helix. Crick and Watson, who were able to attend the conference, observed from images obtained by another scientist (forget who) that it couldn't possibly be Alpha helix, but a double helix, something that Linus Pauling would have known if he had been able to attend the conference and see the images for himself (no internets back then). Yeah, I had weird hobbies as a kid.

Here a bit more about the U 2 3 5 line: 1) face value: 2+3 = 5 -> so basically he says, that he is gonna rip Thanos apart (but not even.....no balanve for you my purple friend) 2) U235 as in Uranium 235 is the isotop necessary to create an A-bomb 3) In the fission reaction chain you have the core of the U235 isotop which gets hit by one Neutron, causing the core to split into 2 new Elements (or cores) and 3 Neutrons (which then hit other U235 cores and so on)..........therefore Oppy says he is not just gonna rip Thanos apart but will do it on an elemental level..........he will break his core like the U235 core is broken. Just this one punch wins the battle alone for me personally.........there is so much thought in there. In general I feel like the more you listen to this battle and the deeper you think (and maybe do some research) about stuff, the more clearer it becomes how much Oppenheimer destroyed Thanos. Uranium-235 is the more reactive but also rarer isotope of Uranium, with Uranium-238 being the more stable and abundant isotope. In order to get fissile material, you need to increase the ratio of U-235. The process is called "enrichment". There is also a little math jab in there, as "splitting" 2 and 3 from 5 leaves nothing (2+3-5=0).

I love the "Split U like 2 and 3 from 5" line because it explains that not only be spliiting thanos like he did the atom, but he is explaining what atom and how he will be splitting said atom.

Thanos was in love with death and she wasnt into him. Hence the death swiped left line. Squirrel girl is a joke character pretty much but she beat him single handledly with her power of controlling squirrels lol. Im siding with Oppenheimer on this one personally.

Dr. Manhattan is the most powerful being in the Watchmen comics (plus movie and show). He almost single-handed won the Vietnam War for the US. He can shape reality at will. And yeah, he doesn’t see the point of clothes, so he walks around naked and you can see his junk

Guess we heard that battle a little bit differently, but that's the way of things.

Clear body for Oppenheimer hands down. Uranium-235 is the "hot"/radioactive isotope (form) of Uranium, the weaponized form of Uranium that is used in atomic bombs.

Dr. Manhattan's dong in Zach Snyder's adaptation of Watchmen was featured prominently enough that it should have been credited separately.

Well damn, I wasn’t expecting him to get the science bars. Someone really paid attention in chemistry, lol. Big props to you

nothing will convince me that these reactors didnt google U-235 before reacting to this older battle. But still, the way he "worked it out" on screen was entertaining. even actual chemists dont know U-235 off the top of their heads like that.

I was really into science in high school and was a Chem major in college. Maybe it's just my fascination with submarines and the Periodic Table of Elements, but I understood every Chem/nuclear related bar right away. Also thought the little mushroom clouds in JRO's eyes when he says That fissile material was a nice touch. But other than the I am become deaf lìne, which I thought everybody's been shown that video at least once in high school, I didn't know much of the history bits. I hated history.

This is one of my favorites because it's a lot like the one between Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker, Thanos is kinda based on Oppenheimer when you think about it. Thanos unalived Gamora for the Soul stone, and while I can understand the opinion of Thanos winning in this reference and bar heavy battle, Oppenheimer's hit harder for me. Always awesome to see someone else's opinion on music

The Thanos Copter line was a reference to Thanos stealing a helicopter and using it to find the infinity stones.. Also, the "Tinkie Winkie" line had me dead 😂😂😂

When Oppneheimer says, "I will split U like 2 to 3 from 5" refers to Uranium 235 which is the isotope used in nuclear power plants. The bombs use Plutonium 239
@billykann77253 жыл бұрын
The 2&3 from 5 reference is to split the U235 into 2 plutonium atoms, and 3 neutrons thus getting 2 and 3 from 5...

I honest to god screamed "Yes, he got it!" When you got the U235 joke. That was something that took me 6 months to understand and I'm *so* happy to see someone get it on their first viewing!

Thanos had one of the top 5 ERB opening's in their many years. That said Oppenheimer CRUSHES him from then on. Music choice was stellar, the voice remix for Oppenheimer was amazing......

7:05 - actually it is a double. In addition to the sexual meaning you picked up on, "you should have gone for the head" is what Thanos says to Thor in Avengers Infinity War when Thor buries his axe Stormbreaker in Thanos' chest, because that isn't enough to kill Thanos or stop him from snapping his fingers with the completed Infinity Gauntlet to fulfill his kill-half-the-universe plan. 11:28 - "you were born to Eternals, but came out lookin' so scary, that your own mother tried to make you a temporary" is my favorite line in all of ERB. So savage.

To elaborate further, for any who is curious, the U 2-3-5 line is totally about fission. When you do this process, you need the proper isotope. Isotopes are variations of an atom. U is Uranium. U238 is the normal Isotope. U235 exists but makes up less than 1% of all uranium. The two are identical in almost every way but 235 has 3 less neutrons than 238. This makes 235 less stable, easier to break. This is why 235 is used, and it's rarity is part of what makes it so expensive, difficult and time consuming to make use of (you've got to separate the
