Most would say that the verse is telling us revelation and inspiration are the conditions for obedience to anyone else. Aside from the emphasis issue, we can also say it implies that their will always be authorities over one aside from the authentic transmissions from Prophet Muhammad. Before that, it was the local or regional prophets of God. Even if people point to the narratives about the best three or four generations, there are still those and verses that tell us to accept the interpreters that are neither sectarian not those who will decide on beliefs and deeds without checking what Prophet Muhammad was sent with.

A’Salam alaykum sometimes Someone is chosen and like Cain and Abel they dispute between one another or like Sam and Ham right ? Sometimes someone could be as beautiful as prophet Yusuf ( pbuh ) but Allah has chosen someone else Allah knows best bless you Syed

What the hell are you talking about ? Between Abel and Cain, ALLAH sided with whom ? Between Sam and the other, ALLAH sided with whom ? And who did ALLAH chose instead of Yusuf ? Come on !
