This documentary is produced by Nazimuddin. Thar Desert after rain nominated for the 6th annual Shanghai television festival (Mongolia Award Competition) in 1996. Telecast by all SAARC member Countries under audio-visual exchange (SAVE) programme in 1994.

Translation of this documentary Thar the desert of Pakistan has its own life. It is Thar where even Sun also burns and feels heat. Here thirst and heat never prevails for ever. Sometimes it rains here which changes the entire canvas. The whole scene gets changed after rainfall.

Very in formative beautiful video documentary by Najim....Saab.The people in desert are in co existence of the Nature. There isn't pollution which is evident in our metros and urban Eco system. They depend on organic farming ,therefore are,safe from the horrible carcinogens, heavy dose of insecticide and pesticides.The genetic stock in our desert biodiversity are the remnants of million years evolution. We should conservative for our such pretty and precious World Heritage.

Very good documentary on Thar but you guys misguide the new generation. Pakistani govt. changed the name of Amarkot to Umarkot and Amarkot for was not built by Umar Soomro, it was built by Rana Amar Singh Ji Sodha, king of Thar. Akbar was born in this fort only but not because of good reasons. When Humayu was defeated by Shershah Shuri, Amarkot Rajput kings gave shelter to him and other Mughols. During that time only Akbar was born. Don't misguide sir. There are lots of fort built by Hindu kings but Pakistani govt. changed their name and their history also as ex. Deravar fort built by deravar singh Bhati, Ranikot fort etc...

It is so painful to watch the lack of water in this area. How are thing across the border as far as water is concerned? Can the rainwater be stored properly? And then used (via drip irrigation) to grow trees that require less water. I have read water level comes up when you grow bamboos.
