These two great artists James Taylor and Carly Simon both great singers, musicians and great writers too. They were married had children, but things don't always work out due to drugs which made things tough for any couple during the 70s. I have their records and love them together. Sad they are no longer together but I believe they have mutual admiration since both are so damn talented writers, singers and musicians too! Great chemistry they had together during that time.

Absolute classic song by the two of them. Each had a stellar solo career, but this song was a very rare duet by the couple while they were married and it was a huge hit. By the time of this performance they had split, but remained friendly and supportive of each other and their work. Something pretty rare in the industry. For more James Taylor check Fire And Rain and You've Got A Friend. For more Carly check You're So Vain and Anticipation. That will get you started with each of them, but their catalogs are extensive and it will take awhile to work through them

This song was originally recorded by Inez and Charlie Foxx in 1963. I think James and Carly were casting around for a song they could perform as a duet, and they settled on this one.

This was from 1979 at Madison Square Garden in NYC. It was the NO NUKES concert. I was there! You should look up the video of Taking It to the Streets, sung by Michael McDonald and a bunch of other great musicians. It's a fabulous concert, all in all. Bruce Springsteen was there, CSNY, Jackson Brown, Dooby Bros, and lots more. Hope you get to see it.

Definitely and from what I learned from Jack Nicholson were hounding young starlets to sleep with either him or Warren Beatty. They were actively trying to sleep with Geena Davis, who Jack Nicholson called her to have lunch with him at his place. Also, Kathleen Turner - "Romancing the Stone" I believe those two actresses turned down, both of them. They were betting whether who they can sleep with so many young new actresses in Hollywood.

I remember hearing their duet on the radio and loved them together and it does make you smile to hear this song which actually was a children's song. However, it worked by these two that turn it rock and roll and jazzed it up!

"You're So Vain" is most associated with and directed to an earlier boyfriend, actor Warren Beatty. For a Saturday night, catch Warren Beatty in the acclaimed action movie "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967) or, for some laughs, the movie "Bulworth" (1998).

This song came out when I was in elementary school. So we got to learn and sing and dance to this version instead of the classic one! It’s amazing he is still alive.

What a fun, energetic performance by rock n roll's then premier couple, Carly Simon and Sweet Baby James Taylor. For the record (no pun intended) "You're So Vain" was NOT about James Taylor, nor was it about Mick Jagger, nor Cat Stevens. Carly has only revealed that verse two of YSV was in fact about her time with actor/ director Warren Beatty. While each verse is about a different suitor, Carly refuses to reveal their identity because she has never told them, and never will, according to her interviews around her 2016 autobiography "Boys in the Trees".

His backup singers has been with him too many years to count. His live version of Shower the People, (Live at the Beacon Theater )let his backup singer take it at the end. It was phenomenal

She has not come out in publicly said who you’re so vain is about. Some say it’s about Warren Beatty, some say, Mick Jagger, some say James Taylor. She might have said it was a compilation of more than one person.
