For those of you who don't know, this was based off the story of Cronus, a Titan from Greek Mythology, who after discovering that his children would one day overthrow him (like he did to his father), decided to eat them to keep the prophecy from coming true. The child at the end is Zeus, whose mother (Rhea) hid him away until he was an adult. Once grown he returned and slayed (in some versions) his father and brought back his brothers and sisters.

Yep, I remember God of War game show this, right?
@SerenityM168 жыл бұрын
Well, this is actual folklore. What then happened was a raging battle for the gods vs titans for supremacy. Some of the titans, however, sided with Zeus, thus the other two moon goddess who were titans, Selene (mother goddess of the full moon) and Hekate (crone goddess of the dark moon). The gods won, and Zeus then proceeded to give everyone else headaches XD

This disturbed me, I mean I know it's about greek mythology but the screechy noises, unsettling silhouettes and the eery lyrics make it out to be more of a twisted horror story than a greek myth. Then again a lot of greek mythology was pretty twisted when you really think about it. I don't even know what I'm trying to say but this song is basically a masterpiece.

Personally, I like to think this was the truth behind Cronus' downfall. Cronus clearly doesn't want to kill his children, but yet, he's forced to out of fear they'll kill him and overthrow him. Even at the end, where he eats a rock he believes is Zeus, he starts to cry endlessly. He doesn't look sad that Zeus is killing him, or shocked when Cronus overthrew his father. Instead, he's mourning the loss of his children. He truly is sorry for being born.

I know that overall it's about Kronos, but when you combine some of the imagery and all the beeps it makes me think of child born all malformed. In the beginning the baby love being in the womb, but being born deformed and sorry for being born in such away. The beeps reading all the vitals until the baby either doesn't make it or the parents make the decision to pull the plug. Like I said, I know it's inaccurate because it's very obviously about Kronos, but i couldn't help my own imagination running away.

Funny story: So today, in English class, my friend walked in with one of those "5000 facts" books and as he was trying to find the page to show us the picture and the fact, he said "Look at this! THIS GUY ATE HIS KIDS!" I was like "Was his name Cronos?" and as he's still looking through the book for it, he nods. "Yeah!" So i pulled up this video. And then his friend (who was standing nearby watching with us) actually vomited a little bit. Not because of the story, we think it was the lunch food, but the timing was perfect.

Honestly, thank you for this song, and all your music. Back when I first listened to this, I couldn't finish it because it deeply disturbed me and I started to cry. Years later, very recently, I referred to this to my phychiatrist. He told me that through the feelings certain images and sounds create, I can find out a lot about myself, and recall lost memories from my past. My parents have always been abusing me verbally, and I have developed Borderline Personality Disorder because of that, as well as many anxiety symptoms and phobias. This made me so sensitive because I couldn't understand how someone can destroy a defenceless, little child. The child didn't deserve it. But anyways, thank you for your music, it really helps me understand myself better than ever

Which completely failed, as he apparently forgot to chew. Plus Zeus was replaced by a stone the size of a baby by his wife (blanking on the name, too lazy to look it up), so he also wasn't very careful with what he ate -- also enforcing the fact that he apparently didn't chew, as I would assume kids don't have the same hardness as a rock.

Here's my theory: This song is a dark and depressing twist of the Greek mythology. Kronos, in anger of his father, Uranus for eating his siblings, decided to kill Uranus, but unfortunately, his cannibalistic father possessed him. And unwillingly, he is forced to eat his own children. His children knew so they sacrificed themselves so that it can help him, and before they died in his stomach, they smiled contently. And Kronos eats the children, continuingly saying 'I am sorry'. He asked his father that is it delicious to eat his own children. And so, in the end, Zeus killed Kronos, crying in joy because he knew that Kronos is free from his hideous body and his demonic father once and for all...

may also be about a widow who lost her husband then having gone insane killed her children because it shows the children being chopped up though they look like they are being eaten then a girl deciding to just end the mothers insanity. but your guess is most likely true because there's the pillars and the bearded shadow god thing and in fact the woman with the hair actually looks like Medusa with all the strings of hair flying back.

In devouring his own children to avoid his downfall, Kronos had unknowingly sealed his fate by giving his children a reason to oppose him.
@tunaicecream797810 жыл бұрын
EDIT: I had never read about Greek mythology before I made this theory I have now and I agree that it is related to the Cronus myth, but with a bit of a twist. Please read Manzane's theory. I kind of see it like a Brothers Grimm tale. I think the two seen in the begin are both the parents of the many children. There is some sort of famine going on and everyone was starving, the father eventually grew insane and tried to convince his wife to eat the children. She ended up horrified with the idea and tried to convince him not to. That didn't work though, he grew even more insane until he was basically a monster trying to eat the children. The mother ended up grabbing a scythe and killed him before he could kill anyone, but she was left in grief for what she had done. You then see her in the room with all the children, looking sad and hesitant around them. Her husbands words stuck to her and with her growing hunger the more it made sense. Finally she snapped and ate almost all the children. In the end she is seen deeply regretting what she had done, crying for all of her children she had killed. One survived though, and killed her with the same scythe her mother once used to protect her.

Call me a nerd but Cronus didn't eat his children...he swallowed them whole. Eating is chewing and that he didn't do. He was also a titan and was meant beautiful... call me a nerd but it's true.

Kody Carver It is adaptation, it isn't meant to be 100% exact

Kody Carver And you can even say that Cronos didn't take the balls off his father for instance . It is just a detail and isn't making the song less appreciable . So it is the same for what you said before

Guess what? That doesn’t matter at all because this is a vocaloid video, not a lesson on Greek mythology.

It's even sadder when you hear the mumbling at the beginning and know it's a toddler saying "I love you, daddy." I am not afraid to say I cried when I realized that.

This animation is scary. Anyway, in the beginning you hear the words “I love you daddy” the man even looks kinda sad finding out his children would overthrow him. And he’s kinda sad he has to eat his children. His children love him, but he was convicted to eat them. YOU KNOW HE COULDVE MUDERED INSTEAD OF EAT????

I knew something was off when I heard Cronus (I think) say “Your warmth, how I love it…” and “Won’t you let me touch it more?”-

So, my father used to be a wonderful poet when he was young he made a lot of good friends thanks to that talent of his, and even met a woman who eventually became my mother and thus, i was born and as i grew up, i seemed to show the same interests as him, to which..he should've been happy about it he should've encouraged me as i was still his child and what is better than having your kid step on the same path as you? but he wasn't happy. in fact, despite me still being an elementary school kid at the time of writing my first poems, he'd criticise every other line, no, word of it expecting me to understand which led me to reject something i loved making for several years for years, i've tried all sorts of interests, but nothing worked out it's like i was truly destined to be a poet and so, last year, i fully came back to writing and did something i was always afraid to do i sent him one of my latest poems and he finally admitted it. not that i was actually "good" this time. that i overcame him. and what was left of his talent is but an alcoholic delirium. he'd hear voices in drops of tap water.

the video is about Cronus but i believe the lyrics themselves are about a child being sexually abused by their caregiver. this idea is supported by lyrics like "Because it's fun I love it won't you let me touch it more" "I love those hands ... dance with me more" (the abuser calling what they're doing to the child dancing) "I fall into a beautiful black" (the child is disassociating to cope with what's happening) this would explain the self loathing lyrics asking for forgiveness for being born and such. "eat eat eat I eat my own" (in japan eating someone can be a euphemism for sex) some of the lyrics also possibly imply that the child grew up to become an abuser themselves? but yeah, I think the song lyrics are far more sinister than the story of Cronus.
At least you're not cancer like me. Apparently on the internet I'm cancer xD =^°^=

Kronos was the father of the Gods of Olympus (Greek lore) he ate his children which were the gods, The mother of it gave him a rock to eat instead of Zeus and he ate it (because he's a dumbass) Then Zeus overthrew him and became king of the gods. But yeah it's a myth.
