Jamie being assigned to himself was a call back to the Second Episode "Biscuits". He was asked whether he would be a lion or a panda. His response was "I am me. Why would I be anything else".

15:00 was jamie knowing that in total football he should be the setup guy, not the striker. this was hinted at during beard's power point, that he knew how to play total football at man city. but also in S1, when he passed the ball to win the game, which seemed like it was just to show us he can be a team player. but now it shows he knew how to play the system. also in S2 jamie saying he needs to give his teammates space when roy was being clingy, was also a hint to his knowledge at total football. so it was quick and subtle but jamie being the one to show total football to his team was setup from S1

Series is amazing in how it contains so much heartwarming material at the same time it contains so much side-splittingly funny stuff. And the way it adjusts your perception of characters throughout its course. Jamie's shift from villain to someone you root for, Nathan's shift to ungrateful arrogant jerk was so complete, and then they somehow made you root for his happiness again...even Jade, with little screentime, moves from just the obstacle to the window table, to someone capable of caring for Nate with wit and charm.

I’m definitely in the minority here, but season 3 is by far my favourite. It’s probably the most emotional, I’d argue it’s the funniest one, and these last 7 episodes are truly just magical

Season 1 we fell in love with who Ted was and everything he was trying to accomplish which in turn made us fall in love with the other characters. Season 2 had more of the same, but also my character development of the lesser characters. And season 3s last like 6 episodes were some of the greatest television ever.

13:58 - Yes! It's funny. First time I saw the episode, I imagined Ted walking up and down his street inviting his neighbors or something😆 . I'm not sure about other sports, but being able to observe training is almost unheard of (as evidenced by Paul/Baz/Jeremy's reaction at Mae's when they got invited). Here in Atlanta, we allow fan attendance for one pre-season training session - and even that one is only for season ticket holders and the leaders of the biggest supporters' groups. Seasoned footy fans here tell the newbies talking about sneaking in, "..oh, it's worse than just being arrested. They'll ban you from games!" The horrified looks on their faces is priceless! 🤣I used to spend a lot of time trying to explain to 'my fellow Americans' how differently Europeans and Latin Americans view this sport than we do. Ted's "It's their team, we're just borrowing it for a little while." sums it up in a single line. The writing in this show is what makes it so amazing. And I still love that the building Sam bought for his restaurant is the same one Akufo rented when he was trying to get Sam to join the Raja Casablanca project. Can only add that Toheeb Jimmoh's delivery of Sam's locker room diatribe about professional athletes being punished for expressing a view on social issues was dynamite.

I think Jamie not switching gave opportunity to show how much he's grown, that he's not the ego-driven player he was in season one.... and maybe led to his revelation about how to do Total Football, they have to play through him, not to him. He had to give up (except of course when opportunity presents itself) his role as the star player. This was foreshadowed in how annoyed he was with Zava.

Also, the real star of a team is the player whose absence would be most detrimental to the team, not the one who scores the most goals. To kids and casual fans the goalscorer is the big star(in no small part thanks to sports media hyping goalscorers up), but to anyone who actually understands the sport someone who can orchestrate a passage of play like Jamie did in this episode is way more highly regarded.

Jack and Keeley _are_ cute together but the book lover in me was _not_ impressed by her writing in a frikkin' Jane Austen _first edition_ (!?), even as a joke (that'd be a red flag for me :). Not sure but I do wonder if the writers saw fan discussions about Rebecca/Sam (with whom I don't _think_ they really mentioned the boss thing, it was always more the age difference) and so decided to address it here. Because between two consenting adults, i'd argue it's a more important issue than age. (fun Easter egg BTW: the music on Coach Beard's "total football" presentation is the theme from "Escape to Victory" - aka "Victory!" in the US I think ? - which is an early 80s football movie in which allied prisoners of war play a German team during WWII. It's arguably not a _great_ move in itself BUT it's the kind of thing footballers especially would love anyway, despite its flaws _and_ about as close as we get in the UK to unapologetic US style patriotism - Beard is clearly playing to his audience :)
