It's a metaphor for crossing a bridge that cannot be uncrossed. A person can still have 'that' without setting their house on fire, assuming they realize the worthlessness and emptiness of owning the house. If you knew a delicious food was poisoned, you could not bring yourself to ingest it regardless of how orgasmic it looks, tastes, or smells. Touching "that" is about being aware of the poison which is attachment, which naturally causes the individual to avoid it without the need of a plan, hard work, practice, or any other kind of prescription. All pleasure chases come with suffering hang-overs. They are inseparable, and the only way an individual transforms from conditioning into 'that' is through the realization that they've been drinking sand while interpreting it as water. Only a small number of unicorns can see it with their own eyes, or have the potential to realize it eventually, the vast majority simply never will - it's not in their DNA.
