The intellectual confidence to appear stupid. Well that sums me up

I’m intellectually confident enough to appear stupid basically all day every day, and yet nobody ever recognizes my brilliance for it.

I like how he was basically mad at David long before he asked the question. He just sat there, confident David would be mean, more or less accurately aware of what David would say, and yet that didn't help. You'd think being aware of the response would soften the blow a little.😂

Honestly it makes me side with Robert's character here. He knew how David was gonna be and he still gave him a chance to be, you know, friendly and normal :) I think by the end Robert was just mad at himself that he (presumably repeatedly) has had the masochistic need to share anything with David.

@@Jackissimus That's interesting, my impression was completely different. To me this sketch shows, in a somewhat overblown fashion, that it's like to be surrounded by idiots who get mad at you for being smart.

Smart people are often insensitive. It's quite a large weakness as it does nothing but hurt their social, and familial relationships. However that doesnt mean they're bad people. Sure some might take sadistic glee in making someone else feel stupid. But many are well meaning, intending only to help others maintain a grounded, stable view of reality. As they believe such a view is in the best interests of everyone involved. However often times this is misinterpreted as being a smarty pants know-it-all who likes to trample on people's sense of wonder. It's just one of those things. Different types of people having difficulty seeing eye to eye.

Man oh man .. this new generation is fucked, Someone is siding with one character? Give me a break. Once again, THIS IS COMEDY. It isn’t an Ethics class. It isn’t a class in Psychology. Comedy sometimes take everyday situations and stretches them within reason, then showing the audience a comedic twist of irony. It there is any moral for us, look at the last ten seconds. He builds the moment and tries to be lighthearted, after speaking in cruel tones and … (perhaps apologetically) … he asks an innocuous question, equal to equal, (as in the beginning lines about ten minutes) and the comedic response puts the aggressive shoe on the other foot. We cheer for him. Successful comedy.

I'm amazed that you're amazed that some random non-native speaker with 246 subscribers got "only" 45k views by copying and posting a segment of a British tv show, no matter how good said show is.

And since we aren't entangled with the Earth we do actually levitate slightly off the ground.
